The Trustees present their annual report together with the financial statements of the Charity for the 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2025.
Objectives and Activities
The objectives of the charity as per its governing document are
- For the benefit of the inhabitants of Barnet and the surrounding area (“the area of benefit”) to provide or assist in the provision of facilities for recreation and other leisure time occupation in the interests of social welfare with the object of improving their conditions of life for the inhabitants of the area of benefit in particular but not exclusively by the preservation, promotion, support, assistance and improvement of basing hill park.
In setting objectives and planning for activities, the Trustees have given due consideration to general guidance published by the Charity Commission relating to public benefit, including the guidance 'Public benefit: running a charity (PB2)'.
Activities Undertaken achieve objectives
We continue to actively pursuing improvements to the Park through close consultation with the local community. We maintain strong engagement are closely engaging with the council and local developers, raising the park’s profile and advocating for the needs of the community which were previously under represented.
Main activities undertaken to further the charity’s purposes for the public benefit

Infrastructure improvements: Installation of a brand-new playground; public water bottle fountain and defibrillator added

Park usage: The Herts Baseball Club continues to use the park as its permanent home. The Hope of Childs Hill Park charity (THOCH), run by Anthony Dawodu, uses the space for regular weekend and school holiday sports activities including football, basketball and cycling lessons

Community engagement: Ongoing holiday sport schemes, growing volunteer involvement

Upcoming plans: Launch of a food-growing initiative, planting of fruit trees, and further infrastructure improvements

Achievements and Performance
This is the second year of operation as a registered charity. Key achievements in 2024–25 include:

Installation of a new playground

Support for Herts Baseball and THOCH sports programmes

Installation of a water bottle fountain and defibrillator

Resurfacing of three-quarters of the park's perimeter path

Continued collaboration with Barnet Council on further improvements, including tree planting and food growing
We are proud of the role we play in enhancing community access and wellbeing through the park.
Financial Review
During the year the charity had an income of E11,329 and expenditure of £10,000 with a carry forward of £1,329 This is due to paying the £10,000 grant from the National Lottery to Barnet Council to be used for playground improvements when the new playground is developed to be built April/May 2025.
Going Concern
The charity has good liquidity with minimal expenses and no recurring costs. It has a strong pipeline of development plans and remains a going concern.
Reserves Policy
The charity does not currently hold reserves, as it has no day-to-day operational costs. Should the need arise, funds will be raised accordingly

Constitution
The charity is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation constituted under Association dated 4” February 2022. The charity was registered with the Charity Commission on 4th February 2022 with charity number 1197809.
