## **TRUSTEES' REPORT**

## **Objectives and Activities**

As outlined in its governing document, Feline Fur Babies North Wales exists for the benefit of the public to relieve the suffering of cats and kittens in need of care and attention and to provide and maintain rescue homes and other facilities for the reception, care and treatment of such animals.

## _Key activities include:_

•Providing essential shelter, food and veterinarian care to cats and kittens.

•Coordinating the care and rehoming of cats through a structured process facilitated by the charity's Facebook page.

•Offering a haven for feral cats, ensuring they receive necessary treatments before returning to their original homes.

All cats and kittens coming into our care are taken to the vet and neutered/spayed, given de-flea and de-worming tratment, vaccinated, microchipped, and given loving care and attention until they can go to their forever home.

These activities are integral to the charity's pursuit of its objectives, ensuring that cats and kittens are provided with essential care, and efforts are made to find them loving homes.

The trustees confirm their adherence to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit, recognising the importance of aligning their activities with the broader welfare of the public and the specific needs of cats and kittens in their care.

Feline Fur Babies North Wales is committed to fulfilling its stated purposes by actively engaging in activities that not only rescue and care for feline companions but also contribute to the well-being of the community at large. Through transparent and accountable practices, the charity strives to make a positive impact on both the feline population and the individuals who choose to adopt and support their mission.

These selfless efforts not only enhance day-to-day operations but also significantly impact the wellbeing of the feline companions under the charity's care. Volunteers bring diverse skills, fostering a sense of community and shared responsibility. Their collective commitment sustains the charity's mission, making a profound difference in the lives of cats and kittens awaiting loving homes.

The charity expresses profound gratitude for the invaluable contributions of its volunteers.

## **Fosterers**

As we extend our heartfelt gratitude to our exceptional fosterers who have played a pivotal role in transitioning countless cats and kittens into loving forever homes, let's now turn our attention to the dedicated spaces where our long-term residents find solace and care. Beyond the doors of temporary fostering, we enter the realm of our catteries, where a handful of feline friends have found a permanent haven.

Among our long-term fosterers, heroes emerge with stories of compassion and commitment. Kate tenderly cares for Tammy, a feline companion battling thyroid issues, while Clare provides a nurturing home for Skye, who bravely faces the challenges of Feline Hysteria. In total, we have six remarkable long-term residents, each with their own unique tale of resilience.

The charity stands as a steadfast pillar of support, covering the costs of their food, veterinary care, and necessary medications. This ensures that these special individuals receive the attention and care they need, thanks to the generosity of our supporters.

Our foster team, from those who assist in the journey to forever homes to those who offer unwavering care for those with ongoing health challenges, embody the spirit of compassion that defines our rescue mission. Join us now as we step into the world of our catteries, where love, care, and hope intertwine to create a sanctuary for our cherished feline companions.

Fitzi came to us in December 2022 from a vet practice in the Wirral. Someone brought her in as a stray. She is chipped but unregistered, so we don’t know if she’s spayed. The vet guessed she was about 18months old. She has epilepsy and will fit unless she has her medication twice daily. Fitzi is a very grumpy lady cat and won’t let you pick her up to give her, her meds, she will however take it in her food. She is now in a permanent foster home with another cat we can’t home called Skye.

Skye is 4 years old and was picked up by a seagull when she was a 4- week-old kitten. The seagull took her up to the sky and dropped her leaving her with Feline Hysteria. If she doesn’t have her medication, she chases her tail round in circles. Skye is a loving friendly cat who is happy in her foster home along with Fitzi.

Blacky is a 10yr old male, fed by an elderly lady who sadly died. Blacky wasn’t her cat, he was a stray, but she fed him anyway. He is another cat with Cat Flu we are unable to clear. He lives quite happily in the cattery.

Tammys’ owner went into a nursing home, therefore, no longer able to care for her. When she came to us, we weren’t aware that she had Hyperthyroid. She has been very poorly and wasn’t expected to pull through but with regular vet trips and daily medication she did. Tammy came to us in May 2022 and is now with a permanent fosterer in a happy home. Tammy is a lovely cat who loves human affection.

Umbreon has severe cat flu which we are unable to treat. RSPCA Birmingham were going to put him to sleep as he wasn’t responding to medication. We took him in, and he seems happy enough in the cattery. This is another example of a feral cat who has learned to love humans.
