5. Trustees’ reports for the year:
Treasurer’s report and accounts: accepted. Proposed by Jen Pearce, seconded by Louise Lee.
6. Membership fees for 2025/26: committee recommended no change.
7. Election of Trustees:
Mike Saunders wished to stand down as Chair but was happy to remain on the committee. All other Trustees were willing to remain and Jacki Allan offered to join the committee.

TRUSTEES’ REPORT TO THE MEMBERSHIP FOR THE SEASON 2025/2026
Chairperson’s Report
I took over from Mike in September 2025, following his health problems, and I would like to thank him for all his hard work during his term of office – he is so knowledgeable about this area, he is a difficult act to follow!
The Society continued with our regular monthly meetings through the last season. They were generally well attended and seem to have been enjoyed by the membership. We were represented at the three local shows, East & West Leake and Sutton Bonington. Our display on the progress of the group researching the history of the Rushcliffe Estate interested everyone who saw it, including a lot of folk who were not members of the Society.
We have published two books this year: Alan Hall’s second instalment of ‘East Leake Past and Present’ and ‘The History & Development of the Rushcliffe Estate’ by Jackie Allen, Alan Hall, Louise Lee and Brenda Lewis. Both books have been very well received, and only a few copies of each are still available.
The history of the Rushcliffe Estate has been a fascinating project and has interested many people in the village and beyond, who may not have heard of us previously. They were quick to help us with information from those who have lived there, and they have shown a lot of interest in the display in the library and since the book has been available. We also had a lot of good press involvement.
The Society have been asked by the Parish Council to produce a leaflet showing a history trail around the village, and a small group have been working on this for much of this year. There will be different versions for adults and children. It should be ready to go to the Parish Council for them to publish and distribute in time for the school summer holidays. We were hoping to be able to have it available on line for those who prefer that, but our IT knowledge is holding us back here – if anyone knows someone who could help us with that, please do get in touch. There was also mention of a board to go into the car park, which we have yet to work on.
As usual, I have to mention that we could do with some extra help on the Committee! We are a sadly depleted committee at the present. Due to a change round of jobs, we will need a new secretary in the autumn. The hardest part of that job is making sure the Chairperson knows what she should be doing, so its not difficult! If you feel that you could join us, as secretary or just for the coffee and chocolate biscuits at the committee meetings, please let us know (before we have to resort to a pressgang!)

Treasurer/Membership Secretary’s Statement for year ending 31[st] March 2026

Deficit for the financial year: £509.32

Bank/Cash balances at the end of the financial year were £6,538.20

Following increases in speaker talk fees and church hire fees the Committee are recommending an increase in Single Membership subscriptions from £18 to £20 and an increase in Joint Membership subscriptions from £30 to £35.

I would like to thank Seagrave French Ltd for auditing the Society’s accounts.

At March 31[st] 2026 the Society had 62 members (36 single, 24 joint, 2 life).
