Mission Statement

Our mission is to enrich lives through music and the arts, promote social inclusion, and support the wellbeing of our communities. We create opportunities for artistic expression, cultural exchange, and personal development for individuals of all ages and backgrounds. We believe in the power of music as a force for health, equity, inclusion, and community transformation.

Our work in 2025 will be underpinned by six strategic pillars:

Highlights of Activities and Impact in 2024

Live Music Events and Celebrations

• Four major live music engagement events held across the Tri-Borough area

• Women's Month “Live Music Celebrating Women” series

• Community Christmas Party providing music, gifts, and shared meals for over 200 residents

Health and Mental Wellbeing

• Mental health promotion and suicide awareness events delivered with peer-led support

• Music workshops supporting mental resilience, healing, and emotional expression

• Launched the Tri-Borough Health Equity Community Hub initiative

Social Impact and Capacity Building

• Delivered food security initiatives through regular food bank and distribution programs

• Continued participation in the North West London Health Equity Ecosystem , addressing social determinants of health through music-led engagement

• Established music for health programs that are community-led and aligned with NHS and Public Health priorities

Empowerment Through Learning

• Ongoing Music Youth Tech initiative promoting digital and creative skills

• Piloted financial literacy workshops for underserved residents

• Supported employment pathways through training, mentoring, and partnerships

Partnership and Influence

• Strengthened collaborations with NHS system leaders, local authorities, and community leaders

• Promoted a model of empowerment rooted in the “power within, power with, and power to” principles

Governance and Financial Management

We continue to operate under strong governance principles guided by our constitution and reviewed financial policies. The Board of Trustees meets quarterly to review delivery, impact, risk, and financial health.

Financial Overview

For the financial year ending on 30/04/2025, the charity's total income was £48500 , with expenditures amounting to £45500 . The charity maintained financial stability with no significant reserves at the end of the period.

Reserves policy:

The trustees’ aim is to maintain unrestricted reserves at the level sufficient to cover 3 months of operating costs with improvement target of 6 months by 2026

Risk Management:

The trustees’ have a duty to identify and review the risks to which the charity is exposed to. As a result of this the trustees must ensure appropriate controls are in place to provide reasonable assurance against fraud and error

The trustees are also responsible for overseeing the risks faced by Malombo Music Association. Risks are identified and assessed throughout the year. The trustees are satisfied that any risks have been adequately mitigated where necessary and they have undertaken an overall risk assessment.

Organisational Structure:

At the trustees quarterly meetings project delivery, expected impact and finances are reviewed.

Appointments – potential new trustees are interviewed by board of trustees and invited to attend a trustees meeting, after which a decision is made by the board.

Induction:

New trustees are introduced to existing charity work and given space to familiarise themselves with the way the charity operates and priorities it serves. They are also provided with opportunity to contribute new ideas as they establish their role of support within the charity.

Governing Document:

The governing document is a Constitution based on the Charity Commission model for a CIO.

Conclusion:

The Malombo Music Association remains committed to its mission of leveraging the arts to make a positive impact on the community. Through our various programs and partnerships, we have successfully engaged senior citizens, youth, and the broader community,

contributing to their health, wellbeing, and social inclusion. We look forward to continuing this important work and expanding our reach and impact in the years to come.

Statement of Trustees Responsibilities:

The trustees are responsible for preparing the Report of the Trustees and the Financial statements in accordance with the applicable law and the United Kingdom Accounting Standards.

The law applicable to charities in England and Wales, the Charities Act 2011, Charity (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 and the provisions of the trust deed requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the affairs of the charity and of the incoming resources and application of the resources, including the income and expenditure, of the charity for that period. In preparing those financial statements, the trustees are required to:

• Select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently;

• Observe the methods and principles in the Charity SORP;

• Make judgement and estimates that are reasonable and prudent;

• State whether applicable accounting standards have been followed, subject to any material departures disclosed and explained on the ongoing concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charity will continue in business

The trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and to enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011, the Charity (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 and the provision of the trust deed. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities,

• Our latest examined accounts (Year Ended 31 March 2025) show:

• Income: £48,500

• Expenditure: £45,500

• Net Surplus: £3,000

• We aim to build a reserve to cover 3–6 months of core costs by 2026

In 2025, Malombo Music Association will continue to deepen its impact through a holistic delivery model centred on music, health equity, and opportunity. With a focus on systems change, grassroots empowerment, and cross-sector collaboration, we are confident in our ability to continue driving positive outcomes for communities across London.
