Achievements and Performance
SORP reference
| Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole. Para 1.20 WELCOME NETWORK CIO ANNUAL REPORT for year ending 30thApril 2025 Welcome Network CIO is supporting and encouraging the charitable work of Christians as individuals and members of churches across Northumberland, Tyneside and beyond through our ministries which include Selah Ministries in other parts of the UK. This is done through the hosting of online and in-person network gatherings on a regular basis. Participants hear and share good practice in how they might effectively engage with and benefit their communities through the proclamation of the gospel, and the improvement to spiritual, emotional and mental wellbeing that this can bring. The participants themselves may feel isolated, for example in small rural communities, and our online and in person gatherings benefit their wellbeing as they have the opportunity to relate with others similarly placed. Welcome Network CIO provides teaching to churches and other organisations throughout the UK on how they can better welcome and include people from different cultural backgrounds in their activities, and how to present the gospel to the communities in culturally relevant ways. Teaching workshops were held online during the year. Welcome Network CIO oversees a village chaplaincy team in Shilbottle which has and gives public benefit through the voluntary work of two ordained chaplains. They are involved in supporting the elderly and other vulnerable people in the community through pastoral visits and their presence at community activities. They work alongside the local council in enhancing the community life of the village through social and religious events, and encouraging charitable activity such as the knitting of clothing items for a clothes bank. Welcome Network CIO oversees a community notice board and prayer box in the village. |
