Assets Held on Behalf of Others: The North Wales Africa Society (NWAS) does not hold any assets on behalf of third parties.
Investment Policy: NWAS does not hold investments and therefore has no formal investment policy.
Annual Accounts: The General Secretary/Treasurer confirms that the accounts for the financial year ended 30[th] April 2026 comply with statutory requirements and with the governing document (Constitution) of the North Wales Africa Society (NWAS). The Treasurer has presented the financial statements for the year, which have been prepared in accordance with the Statement of Recommended Practice on Accounting and Reporting by Charities (SORP 2005), as issued by the Charity Commission.
The total incoming resources for the year reached £101,495.69, representing a 7.1% increase from the previous year's total of £94,736.18. This growth is mainly attributed to the overlap of projects and continued success in obtaining small and medium grant funding, which remains the charity's primary source of income.
Total resources expended during the year were £94,427.94, an increase of 22.5% compared to the previous year (£77,072.59), reflecting the expansion of services and delivery of additional projects to meet growing demand within the local communities, alongside increased operational costs.
The charity reported a surplus of £7,067.75 for the year, a decrease of 60.0% compared to the previous year (£17,663.59). The reduction in surplus is attributable to the higher level of programme delivery during the year.
The resulting movement in funds reflects the continued receipt of grant income ahead of related expenditure, in line with the timing of project delivery across financial years. Restricted funds will be carried forward to meet the costs of ongoing and committed project activities in 2026–2027, and the trustees confirm that these funds have been applied in accordance with funders' requirements.
Statement of Responsibilities of the Director and Executives of NWAS
The Director and Executives are responsible for maintaining adequate accounting records that accurately disclose the financial position of the charity, safeguarding its assets, and taking reasonable steps to prevent

and detect fraud and other irregularities. They are also responsible for ensuring that this report is prepared in accordance with the requirements of charity law in England and Wales.

Notes to the Accounts
1. Restricted and Unrestricted Funds
The charity receives most of its income as restricted project funding. These funds may only be used for the specific purposes agreed with funders.
2. Staff and Volunteers
The charity has no paid permanent staff. During the year:

Two fixed-term paid Project Coordinators were engaged for specific funded projects.

10 - 15 volunteers supported delivery across six projects.
All staffing costs are fully covered by restricted project funding.
