But you need to send the commission a copy if it asks for it. ## **Climate Action Hub Telford** ## **Registered Charity Number: 1197678** Address: 18 Little Meadow Close, Admaston, Telford Shropshire TF5 0DN ## **Charity Objectives** The object of the CIO is the advancement of environmental protection or improvement. Specifically: - For the benefit of the public in the Telford and Wrekin area the advancement of environmental protection, in particular, but not exclusively by the promotion of waste reduction, re-use, repair, recycling, use of recycled products and the use of surplus. - To advance the education of the public about sustainable waste management and reducing their consumption of waste by working with other groups to provide education, advice and support about climate and ecological issues _._ ## **Governance** The charity is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) governed by a constitution based on the ‘Foundation’ model and dated **19th December 2022** . The Charity has a public meeting once a month(Mondays 7.30pm) which external supporters are welcome to attend where we discuss preparations for our events and any follow up from past events. The meeting is held via zoom and the link to the meeting is sent to everyone on our mailing list. The charity holds a trustees only meeting once a month (generally Mondays 7pm) where the charity business is discussed including searching for a Hub, managing finances including purchases, recruitment of trustees and volunteers, training and policy needs, IT issues, services the Hub may provide. ## **Trustees** The charity’s constitution allows it to have at least three charity trustees. There is no maximum number of charity trustees that may be appointed to the CIO. However the Appointed Trustees named in the Constitution can appoint a further 3 nominated trustees. Appointed Trustees serve a 2 year term with the exception of one trustee appointed for a 4 year term. Nominated Trustees serve two year terms. Any charity trustee who has served for two consecutive terms may not be reappointed for a third consecutive term but may be reappointed after an interval of at least one year. ## _Changes to the Charity’s Trustees_ Elizabeth Pinfield Wells was appointed as a nominated Trustee on 21/12/22. Liz was already known to some of the APpointed Trustees and recruited by word of mouth. Attempts have been made to recruit more trustees. This has not yet been successful. We placed an online advert via NCVO on Trustees Unlimited website August- September 2023. During the period of this annual report Juliet Soria replaced Steve Smith as Chair due to Steve Smith experiencing an extended period of ill health. At the end of the financial year the Trustees were as follows: _Appointed Trustees:_ Juliet Soria (Chair) Fiona Morgan (Secretary) Jane Bundy (Treasurer) Steve Smith _Nominated Trustees_ Elizabeth Pinfield Wells ## **Financial review** The Charity’s income comes from donations from our events and the Telford and Wrekin Council Climate Change grant that was successfully applied for in December 2022 to be spent over 12 months for the purposes of setting up a physical hub. At the start of the year the bank balance was £239.00 Total income during the year was £ £10,879.70 £775.51 was paid out to cover our costs £9690.00 was carried forward to cover expected claims from projects still in progress. At the end of the year the Trust had a bank balance of £ 11031.22 ## **Achievements** CAHT has continued to provide a minimum of one event a month to the residents of Telford and Wrekin which are consistent with the Trust’s objectives. At all our events we discuss the purpose of reusing things with the public to reduce carbon emissions and help us to share resources. These events include our: - Swap and Giveaways which we do in conjunction with Telford Repair Cafe and Terracycle Telford at various community centres around the borough and also our own events including Clothes Swap at Wellington Market and Enginuity, Ironbridge Museums. Toy and Christmas decorations swap at Wellington Market and the Little Green Pantry. Some of our swaps focus on specific items, others are generic for any items, some are garden scrap stores and we also do tree seedling/plant giveaways. - Eco activities with children and young people at Landau, PODS - Sponsored film showings at Wellington Orbit as part of COP27/28 and Wellington Green Festival - Litterpick during Great British Spring Clean Week - We organised Wellington’s First Green Festival in August which was sadly cancelled due to the weather. Details of all our activities are presented on our website under the events and gallery pages. https://climateactionhub.org.uk/ We also send out a newsletter at least once a month to notify people about our events and other eco and climate related events and opportunities happening locally that the readership may be interested in. We also post our events to social media (Facebook/Instagram). We have also been working towards how we can set up a permanent Hub in the borough so that our swaps and other services we wish to provide longer term are more available to the public. This has involved negotiations with Wellington Town Council. Love Wellington, Telford and Wrekin Council who provided the grant, Wellington Station (Abellio and National Rail). We have also been working with other potential partners in this initiative including Telford Repair Cafe, Terracycle Telford, Telford Makerspace, Active Wellbeing Society etc. No specific plan to make this happen has yet emerged from these discussions. 18th September 2023 **----- Start of picture text -----**
