The Trustees’ annual report
SHS had conducted a few charity activities as detailed below,
-
1) SHS conducted Vishu Celebration, which is a cultural harvest celebration in South India, on 14/4/2022. The celebration invitation was sent out on social media for public information and there were around 80 people participated in the event. SHS supported children to learn some of the cultural classical programs and they were able to showcase their newly learned talent on the day. Awards and trophies were given to children as a gesture of appreciation.
-
2) SHS continued with kids’ classes for teaching them Indian regional languages, Indian cultural music, and dances along with Hindu Dharma.
-
3) SHS volunteers are continuing to visit schools on request to teach Hinduism as part of the school curriculum.
-
4) SHS is supporting people who are interested in learning “Chenda” (Drum) by arranging classes on a regular basis. Both adults and children are enjoying these sessions. SHS “Chenda Melam” (percussion using chenda) was one of the highlights of the Diwali Celebration conducted at Potteries, arranged with the support of Stoke On Trent Council.
-
5) SHS has worked hand in hand with other charity organisations and helped vulnerable adults and children by providing free cooked food on a few occasions.
