2. Structure, governance and management
Marlborough Mariners is an unincorporated charitable association governed by the Parentkind Model Constitution adopted in September 2021.
The charity is managed by its trustees who meet regularly throughout the year to oversee fundraising, expenditure and projects benefiting Marlborough School. Trustees seek input from the wider Mariners membership when making significant decisions.
Trustees are appointed in accordance with the charity constitution and are typically recruited from the parent and carer community of Marlborough School.
3. Objectives and activities
The charity exists to advance the education of pupils at Marlborough School and to foster effective relationships between the school, parents, carers and the wider community.
During the year the charity organised fundraising events and community activities including Apple Day, Elf-ridges, Nativity events, the Sponsored Cycle, Quiz Night, Summer Gala, Summer Social and Summer Performance. We also receive regular monthly donations.
4. Achievements and performance
The charity raised total income of £28,436.80 and successfully delivered a programme of fundraising and community events. Funds raised supported classroom resources, Forest School activities and wider school projects.
Public Benefit Statement:
The trustees have had regard to the Charity Commission's guidance on public benefit. Activities undertaken during the year supported the education and wellbeing of pupils and strengthened the school community.

Reserves policy:
The trustees aim to maintain sufficient reserves to support future school projects and ongoing activities. Reserves at 31 August 2025 were £33,915.43.

Independent Examiner's Report to the Trustees of Marlborough Mariners
Registered charity number: 1197543 For the year ended 31 August 2025
I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of Marlborough Mariners (the charity) for the year ended 31 August 2025, which are set out in the accompanying receipts and payments account and statement of assets and liabilities.
Responsibilities and basis of report
As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ('the Act').
I report in respect of my examination of the charity's accounts carried out under section 145 of the Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145 of the Act.
Independent examiner's statement
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 130 of the Act; or
-
the accounts do not accord with those accounting records.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
