Registered with the Ministry of Education in Sierra Leone and are compliant with employment laws in that jurisdiction.
## **Risks**
Risks related to the school property and public liability have been mitigated through an annual insurance policy.
The Mabomboh Education Project has adopted a safeguarding Policy that covers children attending the nursery and primary school, ensuring all staff receive regular and appropriate training.
## **Objectives of the Charity** .
To Advance education in Mabomboh village, Sierra Leone. These objectives are detailed in the Mabomboh Education Project’s Charity overview, as recorded on the Charity Commission website.
## **Summary of Main Objectives**
The Charity operates for the public benefit to promote the education (including social and physical training) of people of all ages in the village of Mabomboh, Sierra Leone, in ways deemed appropriate by the charity trustees. This includes:
- a. providing education from pre-school to the end of high school, in accordance with the national curriculum, available to all children in the local community,
- b. by providing school buildings to be used as a venue for adult education including parenting skills, childcare, nutrition, and planned parenthood
## **Summary of main achievements during the year to August 2024**
The Charity had a successful year, teaching 110 children aged 3 to 14. The Children were taught in classes and provided with a free daily school meal to improve their learning and focus.
The Charity have completed the building of staff quarters to accommodate four teachers and are planning to add three more teacher’s quarters to complete the much needed accommodation for teachers, who primarily come from other towns and would not be able to afford the travel costs.
The Charity completed a larger school building, which includes five additional classrooms, a dining room, staff rooms, a store, and a larger library to accommodate the growing collection of books.
The Charity covered the shipping costs for donated items such as chairs, desks, laptops, books, whiteboards, and clothing. Additionally, the charity funded repairs for existing furniture and established a new library.
The Charity provided staff training in line with requirements of the Ministry of Education.
The charity currently provides Internet and communication through subscriptions to mobile network providers in the country. In the future, the charity hopes to offer internet connect that would make it more accessible for pupils and staff.
The charity has utilised consultancy services in Sierra Leone to recruit teachers.
The charity has organised fundraising events, incurring expenses related to these activities.
The charity contributed to the school feeding programme.
The Charity has expanded its solar output by installing eight new solar panels and six new batteries, providing enough power to operate laptops and other electrical equipment at the school.
## **Public Benefit**
We confirm the trustees have had regard of the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit.
Examples of Public Benefit
The school premises, marquee, and chairs are used by the villagers when they have events.
They also use the school field for sporting events.
## **Financial Review:**
The Mabomboh Education project had an income of £28,409 in the financial year ending 31[st] August 2024. The income was generated from donations received from the Chislehurst Methodist Church, New Eltham Methodist Church, Private individuals. and fund-raising events organised by the project.
The charity received its largest donations form Chislehurst Methodist Church, restricted to covering staff related costs. The funding provided £9,000 per year over three years, with the current year being the final year of the agreed support. However, the charity has £11,075 remaining, which will be used during year four and part of year five.
During the year, the charity used its funds to pay staff cost, operate the school and complete the installation of solar power system.
The charity will continue to require funding to complete additional staff quarters, provide accessible water facilities at the school, and cover ongoing operational costs.
## **Reserves**
The reserves policy for the Charity is to maintain a sum equivalent to six months’ average ongoing expenditure. This is necessary to ensure sufficient working capital is available to meet monthly salary payments and other costs associated with operating a school.

## **Responsibilities and basis of report**
I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the Mabomboh Education Project for the year ended 31 August 2024 set out on page 1. As the trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’).
I report in respect of my examination of the School’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the Act and, in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145 (5)(b) of the Act.
## **Independent Examiner’s Statement**
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination which gave me cause to believe that in, any material respect:
- the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Act; or
- the accounts do not accord with the accounting records
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
