## **OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES**

## **Objectives and aims**

Topic Heroes is an exciting way to capture creativity, ignite the imagination and engage children with writing through topic-based learning. A learning adventure like no other, it starts online and finishes on the bookshelf.

Topic Heroes® has been developed with leading literacy academics in-line with National Curriculum and offers a wide range of topics to choose from such as Monsters, Sport, Healthy Eating, Victorians, Climate Change and much more. A flexible learning resource, Topic Heroes® offers a great range of writing genres including newspaper article, poem, postcard, chronological report and autobiography. There is something to inspire and ignite every child's love for learning. Children can have so much fun on their topic learning journey. Creative topic templates are easy to use and come with cool graphics and images to choose from. Children can even upload their own images to help make pages their own.

The brilliant thing about Topic Heroes® is that every child that completes a topic is rewarded for their hard work with their very own professionally printed and personalised topic book to enjoy and share with friends and family. A physical book offers more impact, more variety, promotes sharing with others and creates lasting memories to be kept at school or at home. Most importantly, it connects with children emotionally and is a powerful way to celebrate their achievement.

The drive for our mission is based on a few reasons. People without basic literacy skills pace poorer health outcomes, welfare dependency and little social cohesion. Lack of creative resources has been cited as one reason for current poor literacy attainment. 380,000 children in the UK don't own a book.

Our mission is to provide Topic Heroes® free to every primary school aged child in the UK. We believe in igniting the joy of writing and unleashing the creativity and talent of young minds that last into adulthood.
