## **Chairperson’s Report**

2022 was the inaugural year of Padfield Community Spaces, with the charity being constituted in January. Our first year’s activities focussed on setting up some of the fundamentals that the charity will require going forwards, such as a website, membership system and fundraising and events committees.

Our website, donation and membership system was launched in August 2022 and quickly attracted 33 new members and regular donations totalling £179.36 for the year, helping our charity meet our daily costs. We have sent out regular email communications to our members as well as 55 general supporters.

We were also extremely grateful to receive the support of our local Councillor Ollie Cross, who generously awarded the charity £200 from his Councillors Initiative Fund.

The most significant piece of work the charity undertook in 2022 was to develop and submit our first major funding bid to Derbyshire County Council’s community grant scheme, for £40,802, to support our efforts to purchase the land at the centre of the village. This was a monumental effort, involving the production of a detailed business plan, community consultation, from which we received support letters from 57 local residents, the local school,

our Councillor Ollie Cross and Derbyshire Wildlife Trust. We were extremely pleased to receive such a good level of support from our community for our activities.

Obviously the activities and achievements of the charity in 2022 have been a bit ‘behind the scenes’, however, as a group of volunteers, we have learnt an awful lot from our activities, particularly the funding bid, and look forward to 2023 where we will build on this work, hopefully complete the purchase of the land, and look to bring the community together through events and activities.

Pete Tomlin - Chairperson
