Eling and the Ernest Cook Trust. Over th¢ past fffli, l'ears, the Tru* has invested sub8tantiail)' in the
Rushall Manor site to improve th¢ 5af¢ty' and ii'elfare of ch&ldren. visitor5 and staff.
Our main objective this year ivag to g¢t up and n￿nIng after tw'o ven. difficult years. This has iruli.
happened. with both staff eag¢r to do their job and schwls rea]ly pleased to be here. This is a tru51
w'hich is investin8 in the lives of ¢hildr¢n. All the research shoivs the enornlous benefits to h¢8]th of
b¢ing out in the countryside and ov¢r the )'ears li'e hai'e learnt to do this well. Lii¥es are changed by

The John Simonds Trust was S￿ up by Deolaraiion of Trnst dated 29 April 1986 for the
advancement of education and th¢ provision of facilities in the inierests of Social
welfare.

Retruitment and Trvdlning of Trusteej
The Charity's Trustees are appointed at P4 meetin8 of the Trustees on the basis of nomination5
made by current Truslees with reS￿d to personal competence, the necessary ran8e of
professional and specialist skills and availability. New Trusiees are inducted into the
workin8s of ihe Charity, including the Charity's policy and procedures, at an induclion
organtsed and led by the chairnian. On appointment new Trustee5 receive full inforn)ation
about the Charity and a pack ouilinin8 their responsibilities. they also go through child
Disclosure and Barring screening.
Organi$AtionAI Management
Responsibility for the overall management and wntrol of the Trust lies with the Trustees who
meet four times per year and ai other times as required by the Trust's business. The day to
day runnin8 of the Trust is delegated to the Managing Trustee.

The John Simonds Trust had a net outflow of fvnds of £1,605 for the year ended
31. December 2022 (2021.. inflow £20.056)
Income
The total income was £207,226 (2021.. £206,244). Schools 8eneraied an income of
£120,539 (2021.. £62,035). In¢ome from camps and fvnclions was £40,460 (2021..
£32,672) Donations were £37.530. 2021 £69.012 and Governrnent grant was no
longer happenin8 2021 £35,699. Inveslrnents income was £6.913'. 2021 £6,826.
Expenditure
Expenditure was £208,831 on charitable activities, (2021- £186,188) and there were
no major capital improvements to site.
Reserves Policy
The Trustres rcviem. the reserves polic!. annualli.. Reserves ar¢ held to cover ani. polentiat
comn)itments in the event of the charih. Ivindiiig up. and to cover large know'n costs

The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity’s trustees consider that the audit is not required for this year under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Charities Act”) and that an independent examination is needed. 

Responsibilities and basis of report: 

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out  under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. 

I have completed my examination.  I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect: 

- accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Act or 

- • the accounts do not accord with the accounting records and do not comply with the accounting requirements of the Charities Act.
