Method of adopting new trustees: Clothing Coventry advertises for new trustees, who are invited to apply via an application form which is considered by existing trustees. Trustees have identified the key skills needed and applicants are invited to indicate which skills they have as part of the application process. ## Objectives and Activities Summary of the purposes as set out in the governing document: The prevention or relief of poverty for the public benefit in Coventry and the surrounding area through the provision of donated clothing to individuals in need. Summary of activities Clothing Coventry rents and furnishes two warehouses to store and organise clothes for distribution and to provide central drop of point for donations. Clothes are distributed in the following four main ways: · Clothing rails in areas of need across Coventry · Applicants are invited to a designated section of the warehouse where they can choose their own clothes that match their own tastes. · Deliveries to refugees and asylum seekers at their accommodation. · “pop up” events at accessible locations throughout the year. Alongside donated clothes, Clothing Coventry also purchases additional clothes for distribution that either could not be donated for hygienic reasons (e.g. underwear) or where there are not enough donations (e.g. men’s coats for refugees, or plus-sized clothes) Clothing Coventry also gives specific provision for a school uniform project, including a paid coordinator, to liaise with schools and arrange donation events. This ensures children have access to school uniform. Trustees have due regard to Charity Commission guidance in all decision making around the above activities. Page 2 CLOTHING COVENTRY ANNUAL REPORT AND FINANCIAL STATEMENTS 2024 ## Achievements and Performance Clothing Coventry has just completed its third complete year as a registered charity. The charity has continued to grow rapidly and we have adjusted how we provide our services in order to meet demand and need. The largest change in 2024 was the leasing of a second, larger warehouse, and the introduction of our “boutique” space, enabling those in need of clothes to visit a designated area of the warehouse, and to choose the clothes they wanted from a selection of clothes their size (stocked before their arrival). This conformed to our commitment to give those in need “dignity of choice”, rather than being given a bag full of clothes that were chosen for them by a stranger. Feedback for this new model has been overwhelmingly positive, with clients leaving feeling empowered. More than 6000 people were helped via this medium in 2024 Similarly, Clothing Coventry held a uniform pop-up event for three weeks in the summer holidays of 2024. Uniform is unaffordable for many families, particularly those with multiple children, but we enabled them to attend a central location and select school uniform from a number of different stations (trousers, shirts etc) around the room. Almost 2000 children were supported during this event this year. Our reputation continues to grow and we are providing support in partnership with other organisations within the city. 47 different charities and 43 schools have worked with us this year. 12,405 items were taken from our community rails in 2024. At the end of 2024, Katie Wilson, CEO of Clothing Coventry, was recognised by the High Sherriff of the West Midlands for the impact Clothing Coventry has in the community. The High Sherriff spoke of how the charity had “restored dignity and hope to countless individuals” ## Financial Review At the end of the period, Clothing Coventry held £70,331 in restricted, and £21,195 in unrestricted funds. Reserves are held to cover the costs of contractually obligations in the event of the charity ceasing operations. These accounts are prepared on an ongoing basis. Clothing Coventry would like to express our appreciation for the many volunteers who give up so much of their time to ensure the charity can run smoothly. This is particularly true of the international and faith communities that are so vital to our day to day activities. We would also like to thank all the businesses and community groups that raised money or supported us over the year.
