Governance and Management
The Board of Trustees ensures that the organisation is legally compliant in all areas including finance, health and safety.

The organisation regularly reviews its financial position and systems.
Achievements and Performance of Trust
In 2023 The North Shields Fishermen's Heritage Project successfully raised funds for, commissioned and unveiled The Herring Girl Statue - commemorating the important role women played in fishing at North Shields
2023-24 has been another successful year for N.S.F.H.P. We have completed two fully funded school trips to Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre, with another two to follow in 2025.
In 2024 we will continue to investigate Property Rental and work with other groups. In 2025 will see The N.S.F.H.P Regatta with an est 500 school children taking part.

Report to the North Shields Fishermen's Heritage Project trustee of
On accounts for 31 December 2023 Charity no 1197252 the year ended Respective The trustees of the organisation are responsible for the preparation of responsibilities of accounts; they consider that an audit is not required for this year trustees and under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 and that an examiner Independent Examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to

examine the accounts (under section 145 of the 2011 Act),

follow the procedures laid down in the General Directions given by
-
state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of My examination was carried out in accordance with General independent Directions given by the Charity Commissioners. An examination examiner’s includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a statement comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently I do not dit i i th t Independent In the course of my examination, no matter has come to my attention: examiner's statement 1. which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in, any material respect, the trustees have not met the requirements to ensure that:

proper accounting records are kept (in accordance with section 41

of the Act); and

accounts are prepared which agree with the accounting records

and comply with the accounting requirements of the Act; or

to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

Notes to the accounts, 2023
1. Basis of accounts
The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2015) – Charities SORP (FRS 102), the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) and the Companies Act 2006
North Shields Fishermen's Heritage Project meet the definition of a public benefit entity under FRS 102. Assets and liabilities are initially recognised at historical cost or transaction value unless otherwise stated in the relevant accounting policy note(s).
1.2 Change to Opening Balance
Note that there was a change to the Opening Balance.
The Overall Balance remains the same, however the Restricted Fund Community Foundation £1,700 had been spent the previous year, the overall effect being: Restricted Funds Balance December 2022 = £10,000 (Reduced by £1,700) Unrestricted Funds Balance December 2022 = £12,577 (Increase of £1,700).

No Trustees were remunerated or received expenses payments.
3. Costs of financial services
The cost of Independent Examination for the financial period will be £220
