EdUKaid completed the transfer of assets and liabilities post report on 31/03/2024. ## **Governance** EdUKaid has recruited trustees in the UK with the skills and experience to ensure the charity carries out its activities effectively and efficiently. The trustees take an active interest in operational activities and remain informed through regular reports and 3 full board meetings a year. The board of trustees regularly reviews its ‘fitness’ considering the charity’s purposes and plans, its solvency, its resilience, and quality of governance. Our Tanzanian board of trustees represents the communities in which we work with the skills and experience to inform our strategy, advise on our programme development, and provide operational oversight. ## **Objectives** EdUKaid’s primary objectives are the advancement of education and training for children and teachers and the relief of poverty in the developing world. We believe that, through education, children can achieve their full potential and develop the skills to make life choices. ## **Vision** Our vision is for a world where every child has access to the education they need to realise their potential and attain the skills to improve their life chances. ## **Mission** Our mission is to raise the quality of pre-primary and primary education and welfare in Tanzania, thereby helping to eradicate poverty. ## **Core Values** Our core values underpin all aspects of our activities: - Community-led – local management by Tanzanian staff in partnership with Tanzanian trustees and government officials - Sustainability – costed projects monitored to ensure completed delivery and designed to achieve lasting change - Equality – careful matching of UK equal opportunities practice to Tanzanian customs and laws - Inclusion – promoting inclusion in all that we do - Collaboration – in addition to Community-led partnerships, engagement with other charities and NGOs with common interests. ## **Public Benefit** The trustees have given due regard to the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit and have taken it into consideration when making decisions. Whilst the CIO has not undertaken any activities in 2022/23, all planning processes have ensured that future activities under the remit of this CIO demonstrate charitable purpose for the public benefit. ## **Safeguarding** The trustees believe that the welfare of children and vulnerable individuals is paramount. The charity operates within the framework of comprehensive Safeguarding, Prevention of Sexual Abuse and Exploitation and Whistleblowing policies which clearly state how incidents and allegations will be handled should they arise. Policies and practices are reviewed annually and EdUKaid is considered a 3 **EdUKaid Trustees’ Report & Accounts for the year ended 31 October 2023** leading organisation with regard to safeguarding in Tanzania and has been highly influential in improving stakeholder safeguarding practices across the districts in which we operate. 4 **EdUKaid Trustees’ Report & Accounts for the year ended 31 October 2023** **Independent Examiner’s Report to the Trustees of EdUKaid Charitable Incorporated Organisation (“the CIO”)** I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of the CIO for the year ended 31 October 2023. ## **Responsibilities and basis of report** As the charity’s trustees of the CIO you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’). I report in respect of my examination of the CIO’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. ## **Independent examiner’s statement** I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with my examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect: - 1 accounting records were not kept in respect of the Charity as required by section 130 of the Act; or - 2 the accounts do not accord with those records; or - 3 the accounts do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair view’ which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination. I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
