## **Additional governance issues (Optional information)**

You **may choose** to include additional information, where relevant, about:

- policies and procedures adopted for the induction and training of trustees;

This year we worked with the Rotary Club and put some Athletics on at an event that the Rotary Club were hosting for people with disabilities. We have made connections with the local councils and the local Lion’s Club.

- the charity’s organisational structure and any wider network with which the charity works;

- relationship with any related parties;

- trustees’ consideration of major risks and the system and procedures to manage them.

## **Section C Objectives and activities**

We provide 3 hours a week of athletics training to young and old who have a disability. We are hoping to put extra sessions on in 2025.

We provide, organise and accompany all athletes to athletic competitions locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. We have attended competitions that have lasted over a whole weekend nationally with Activity Alliance. We attended the Cerebral Palsy Games for the first time in Coventry this year. **Summary of the main activities undertaken for the** One of our athletes has taken part in the Paris Paralympic Games and **public benefit in relation to** won a Bronze Medal. **these objects (include within this section the statutory** We had an athlete and the whole team won an award held by Bradford **declaration that trustees have** Sports Awards, this year. **had regard to the guidance** One of our younger athletes was chosen to take part in the National **issued by the Charity** School Games and was lucky enough to represent England. **Commission on public benefit)** We have engaged in fundraising at local galas and encouraged the athletes to actively take part. This has been a good way of promoting the club but also, showing positively what can be achieved even with a disability. We also now provide 1 and a quarter hour of a swimming training session every week for young and old who have a disability.

We attend swimming Galas nationally at Special Olympics level with the group at the moment. We are hoping to widen their scope by registering with England Swim, hopefully this will be completed in 2025.

## **Additional details of objectives and activities (Optional information)**

Our fundraising volunteer has been working hard even though she was expecting her first baby. All her efforts haven’t gone unnoticed as she won an award from the Keighley Town Council Annual Awards Dinner and the Athlete who won a Bronze Medal also won an award in October.

You **may choose** to include further statements, where relevant, about:

- policy on grantmaking;

- policy programme related investment;

- contribution made by volunteers.

Section D                      Achievements and performance

One Athlete won a Bronze Medal at the Paris Paralympic Games. **Summary of the main achievements of the charity** Another athlete won medals at the National School Games and **during the year** competed for England. Every competition we have attended this year we have come away with medals. We have also gained top of the leaderboard for League 2 of the West Yorkshire Track and Field League. We have over 30 athletes on our books and 15 swimmers. This is encouraging athletes to do more than one physical exercise a week. This is encouraging other potential athletes to get involved. We are the largest Athletics Group in Yorkshire. We sent the largest swimming team to the last gala, which was in Beverley. We have encouraged 2 athletes to take up a coaching certificate, they hope to do this at the beginning of next year. Recognition for all athletes’ achievements in the form of an annual presentation and in announcements on the group chat and at training, where appropriate. Also, recognition at the Bradford Sports Awards for the Best Team and Best Female Junior Athlete with Disabilities. The Trustees are actively involved in the club, this is because their children are involved in athletics but it also means that they have a better understanding of what the club needs and of the challenges that many people with disabilities face on a day to day basis.
