Achievements and Performance

|---|---|---|---|
| Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole. |
Para 1.20 | Ilkley Rail and Transport Board One of the aims of both FOIRS and The Rail and Bus Board (created by FOIRS) is to create an Integrated Transport Hub for Ilkley. During the year FOIRS has successfully applied for Funds from Ilkley Town Council. These funds have now been used to commission a report from a Firm of Consultants to create a solution for a Transport Hub. The report has now been presented to both WYCA (West Yorkshire Combined Authority) and Bradford Council and is currently being considered for funding. Ilkley Station 160th Birthday Year 2025 is the 160th Birthday for Ilkley Rail Station. During the month of August FOIRS held a very successful “Keeping Track” Exhibition at The Ilkley Manor House. This Exhibition included 5 Information Boards depicting the History of Ilkley Station. In addition to the Ilkley Station History a display portraying the results from the Ilkley Bus and Rail Board Transport Hub Consultation was also exhibited along with some Rail 200 material. |
The Exhibition was very successful with nearly 2,000 people visiting The Manor House during the opening period, (most of whom visited our Exhibition). One of FOIRS Trustees who is also a local Historian held a evening talk with slides and a short film celebrating the 160[th] Ilkley Station Birthday. FOIRS land Adoption FOIRS has adopted an area of land to “green space” near the foot of the steps from the Ilkley Rail Station Footbridge has been extended for an additional 12 months. This is proving to be a difficult project with some unresolved issues regarding boundaries and security of the area. Access to the area is problematic and the issue is further complicated by the extremely small number of FOIRS Members. This makes it difficult to form an active working party. Removal and disposal of the existing rather large trees and other fauna prior to replanting more suitable fauna will be commenced early 2026. Music on The Station - 21 Dec 25 This event is organised by FOIRS and all monies collected are donated to The CandleLighters Charity. This year 2025 we collected over £900.00 (this makes a total of more than £2.500.00 over the three years we have run the event. Performers this year came from Ilkley and Skipton Grammar Schools and Ilkley and other local musicians.
Xmas Tree
On a festive note, FOIRS has once again purchased a Xmas Tree at the Annual St Margaret’s Church Xmas Tree Festival.
