Social Media platforms.
FOIRS can report that the Ilkley Rail and
Bus and Station Board in conjunction
with Ilkley and Keighley MP, Robbie
Moore, Northern Rail, Network Rail,
West Yorkshire Combined Authority and
Ilkley Council is now up and running.
There have been three meeting this year
and while forward progress is painfully
slow, there is optimism for the future.
Partly due to the formation of the Ilkley
Rail and Bus and Station Board and the
persistence of FOIRS a meeting was held
on the Station with representatives from
Network and Northern Rail, Ilkley Council,
Robbie Moore MP and Northern Rail
Contractors ISS in July 2023.
Following this meeting some major
improvements of the surrounds of Ilkley
Station have been completed by Network
Rail contractors ISS.
Additionally all the wooden fencing has
now been replaced and work on the
Entrance Canopy at the Bus Station has
been completed.
FOIRS has also been offered the chance
to Adopt an area of “green space” at the
foot of the steps from the Ilkley Rail

Station Footbridge. This is ongoing and if successful, FOIRS will be looking for Sponsors to finance the replanting of this green area. In mid November, Michael Portillo was appearing at the Kings Hall, Ilkley. Two FOIRS Members were able to meet with him and invite him to become a Patron. On a festive note, FOIRS has purchased a Xmas Tree at the Annual St Margarets Xmas Tree Festival.
