TRUSTEES’ REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2024

The trustees present their annual report together with the financial statements of Trinity Free Church Manningtree CIO (the Charity) for the year ended 31[st] December 2024. The trustees confirm that the annual report and financial statements of the charity comply with the statutory requirements of the charity’s governing document and the provision of the statement of recommended practice (SORP), applicable to the charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102).

Objectives and activities

a. Policies and objectives

The purposes of the church are the advancement of the Christian faith in accordance with the Basis of Faith in the United Kingdom but primarily within Manningtree and the surrounding neighbourhood and such other charitable purposes as shall, in the opinion of the charity trustees further the work of the church.

b. Activities undertaken to achieve objectives

The principal objective of the church is to share the Good News of Jesus Christ to all. To introduce people to the love of God through Jesus Christ, to encourage and build up believers in their knowledge and love of the Lord Jesus Christ. And to demonstrate God’s love in practical acts of kindness to others, both in the church and wider community.

We are a warm and welcoming church, seeking to show Jesus in all that we do through the varied program of activities.

Whilst planning which activities that the church should undertake the trustees have paid due regard to the public benefit guidance issued by the Charity Commission.

We aim to hold one Sunday service each week where we seek to teach the truth of God’s word by expository biblical teaching. Once a month during our services we celebrate communion.

There are small Bible study/ home groups that meet most weeks, where church members and attenders come together to study, pray and fellowship together.

We hold regular church prayer meetings and encourage all to meet and encourage one another and pray together.

Achievement and performance

The church is currently still operating as a Charitable un-incorporated Association (CUA) to allow for a number of issues to be resolved. Once these have been dealt with, the assets (and liabilities) of the CUA will be transferred to the CIO.

TRINITY FREE CHURCH, MANNINGTREE

TRUSTEES’ REPORT (CONTINUED) FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2024

Financial Review

As the assets (and liabilities) have not transferred from the CUA as yet, both the income and expenditure for the financial year ended 31[st] December 2024 are zero.

Reserves Policy

The trustees have agreed that reserves will be held to cover 3 months of normal expenditure (based on the current budget for the next 3 months, or, if no budget is in place for that period, previous 3 months actuals). The calculations for this would not include restricted funds or specific special projects for which funds have been designated. The purpose of this policy is to provide adequate time to adjust to changing circumstances and to make necessary adjustments to expenditure should the need arise.

Structure, governance and management

a. Constitution

Trinity Free Church Manningtree is a registered charity; number 1196986 and is constituted under a CIO association.

b. Risk Management

We have an ongoing commitment to safeguarding vulnerable adults and children. We plan to adopt a similar approach as is currently operated under the CUA, where we have 2 safeguarding officers.

c. Other Matters

Trinity Free Church Manningtree is an independent church, part of the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches (FIEC).
