## **Annual General Meeting Notes** - **July 2024 – July 2025**

## **Opening Remarks:**
KP opened the meeting with an energetic and heartfelt welcome, thanking everyone for their incredible support, dedication, and commitment throughout the year. She spoke passionately about what an extraordinary year it has been for the charity — a year filled with growth, inclusion, meaningful impact, and inspiring achievements. KP reflected on the collective effort of participants, sponsors, volunteers, and team members, expressing immense pride in everything the organisation has accomplished together and the lives that have been positively transformed along the way.

The minutes from the previous Annual General Meeting were reviewed and agreed upon unanimously.
## **Key Highlights and Successes: July 2024 – July 2025**
## **Brief breakdown per event**
## Swimming:
We’ve held 2/3 swimming events a month! It’s certainly been a busy year. Some months were filled with 4 events. 6,276 people have joined our swim events and 1021 people are now swimming with FEAR Drysuits. We have been opening up events at new venues across the country with the support of Places Leisure.

We started our specialised swimming lessons at Romsey Rapids and are excited to see the growth the children make in the water.
## Outdoor Adventure:
We held several outdoor adventure days at Avon Tyrrell. These events were full day experiences including archery, rock climbing, canoeing, zip wire, camp fire and cycling.
## FEAR Ambassadors:
This year we introduced our FEAR Ambassadors- individuals who we feel deserve to be recognised and given the responsibility of creating, promoting and running their own FEAR event.
This year’s event was held at Hangloose Adventure in London. We all tackled the UK’s longest zip wire, which was across the lake. Everyone over came their fears with heights and finished the run with beaming smiles.
## Annual Christmas event:
This Christmas, we returned to Camberley Leisure Centre and were supported by all the wonderful staff at Places Leisure. 276 people joined us for the event- including swimming, soft play, bouncy castles, sensory room and, of course, a visit from Santa himself.
– FEAR Cycle sponsor event:
In December, we went on our very first FEAR Holiday to Disneyland, but in preparation, a few FEAR children decided to do a sponsored cycle along Bournemouth beach to raise money- helping to make Disney more achievable for families.
The cyclists raised a fantastic £5,000 between them- all of which went towards purchasing Disneyland park tickets. Absolutely blown away by their achievement and determination to make a difference!
## Legoland:
This year, we were extremely lucky to receive a large number of Magic Merlin Wand Passes. These passes allowed us to host 4 FEAR days at Legoland for up to 150 people at a time. The events were very busy and lively, but the impact of coming together, in the sun, to a place where memories were made, was fantastic and truly memorable.
## Skiing:
We returned to Tamworth Snowdome for more skiing events. The impact of these lessons is immeasurable, but from spectating, you can see the sheer freedom and pride everyone experiences as they come down the

slope. The instructors at Disability Snowsport UK are incredible and have everyone up on two feet, skiing from the top, in no time at all.
We also held a summer event at the snowdome, which proved very popular and allowed FEAR children to experience rock climbing, ice skating, skiing and snowboarding. Families came together and new friendships were made. Lunchtime was spent attaching feeds and nutrition alongside each other, which was a powerful moment for all.
## Sailing:
Alongside skiing, sailing is definitely up there with the freedom it gives people. We held a number of sailing events, across the country, at various sites. Since the events, 51 individuals have gone on to learn to sail.
## - Festivals Eddie the FEAR Van:
This year, Eddie (the FEAR Van) was asked to attend a number of big, and small, events across the country. CarFest and CamBestival were the largest festivals, but the van also travelled to Wales, Reading, Norwich and Brighton.
Purchasing the van has meant that children, and adults, can access our FEAR events without the barrier of needing to ‘disconnect’ or ‘connect’. So far, this year alone, 592 individuals have accessed the van for IV medication and a further 933 individuals have accessed the van for enteral reasons.
Music festivals are a magical experience and it also acts as a fantastic way to spread awareness and empower people.
## Paint and Chill
For a complete change, this year we introduced Paint and Chill events. These events were about bringing people together, in a calming space to create a canvas painting each. Everyone took home their creation and were able to display it somewhere of their choice- most of which decided to hang it in their ‘medical rooms’ at home.
We will certainly do more of these events. It was a beautiful change and it reached individuals who wouldn’t usually attend the typical active FEAR events.
## – Disneyland December 2024
This was an incredible holiday!
Our first opportunity the meet each-other was onboard the ferry. P&O had sectioned off an area of the ferry for us, which made the journey feel very exclusive!

We then drove to centreparcs and all had FEAR flags flying from the windows, making it great fun to spot each other.
Day 2 and 3 were spent at Disneyland... and what a magical place it was! We had a Whatsapp group going, so we could all keep in touch throughout the day. Many of us disconnected and connected TPN and feeds at the park. Their medical facilities were very accommodating and allowed us to store what we needed in their fridge. It was heartwarming to spot everyone around the park and hear their stories about what rides were their favourite etc. Although the days at Disney were COLD, a lot of families managed to wrap up and stay for the evening shows.
On our last day, a lot of families went swimming, while others chilled around centreparcs. We then made the 3hr journey back to the ferry and spent the crossing sharing stories of our holiday DryRobe had donated a number of Dryrobes to us to make sure we could keep warm while at Disney. These robes were a great addition and made a big difference to many at Disney! TotalCool generously lent us a number of fridges so that we could all keep our TPN/feeds at the correct temperature while away. These fridges made it possible to travel with TPN, and without their generosity, many families would have needed to spend a lot of money on purchasing one. Thank you to Dryrobe and TotalCool for supporting our trip!
Thank you to everyone who donated towards the trip fundraiser, and for making this trip possible! I cannot put into words how important trips like this are for children, adults and families. This holiday was the first of many to come!
## **Programme Expansion and Event Highlights**
Throughout the year, FEAR continued to broaden its programme beyond swimming, delivering a wider range of activities and events designed to support social connection, confidence, wellbeing, and physical engagement for participants and their families.
The success of these events reflected the strong sense of community within FEAR, with each occasion providing a safe, inclusive, and uplifting environment for everyone involved. KP expressed sincere thanks to all those who attended, volunteered, and contributed to making every event both meaningful and memorable.
