This**<br>**reduces food waste and benefits**<br>**the environment since the meals**<br>**are manly created from donated**<br>**food that would otherwise have**<br>**gone to waste. 50-60 local people**<br>**attend and receive a nourishing 3**<br>**course meal cooked from scratch**<br>**by our volunteers. Donated food**<br>**not used for the meal is taken**<br>**home by attendees. The Café**<br>**reduces food poverty as no charge**<br>**is made for the meal or food taken**<br>**away. |||**loneliness and social isolation,**<br>**especially among older people –**<br>**many attendees are aged between**<br>**75 and 95. Those without transport**<br>**are often brought to the café by**<br>**our volunteers.**<br>**3.**<br>**Our Befriending Service has made**<br>**a great difference to the lives of**<br>**approximately 40 lonely or socially**<br>**isolated older people. Volunteers**<br>**have regular face to face contact**<br>**with clients and where possible**<br>**facilitate their introduction to**<br>**social groups where they can**<br>**make friends.**<br>**4.**<br>**We also hold, or are involved in, a**<br>**number of coffee mornings held at**<br>**local venues (such as a sheltered**<br>**accommodation complex in**<br>**Tarleton) where older people can**<br>**socialise. Those who are lonely or**<br>**socially isolated are supported to**<br>**attend by our volunteers, who**<br>**often bring then to and from the**<br>**venue.**<br>**5.**<br>**We have held a number of**<br>**educational talks on local history**<br>**and other subjects, as well as**<br>**musical performances and**<br>**concerts. These have been well**<br>**attended and much appreciated by**<br>**local people. Again, people with**<br>**mobility issues or who are lonely**<br>**or socially isolated have been**<br>**assisted to attend these events.**<br>**6.**<br>**The Charity produces a Newsletter**<br>**every two months which porvodes**<br>**local people with helpful**<br>**information and news about**<br>**forthcoming events. As there is no**<br>**longer a local newspaper, this is**<br>**all the mor appreciated.**|
