The REMO Charitable Trust offers support and resources for local people in need. We work with a number of support organisations who refer people in need to our Food4Good and Box of Rainbows initiatives. Likewise we also refer and signpost to other organisations who may be better placed to offer specific support such as debt advice, support in accessing funding to pay for essential items, help with emotional and financial guidance. Supporting people in need and caring for the planet is at the heart of all we do.
Food4Good
Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)
This includes the FREE food available from The REMO Community Fridge and affordable trolley loads from The Social Supermarket. This surplus food sharing scheme saves good food from being wasted whilst helping families and individuals access nourishment and support. Working with The Wisbech Foodbank, which provides food in times of crisis, this scheme offers weekly help over weeks and months, so together we are able to help more people for longer. All the income from the Food4Good Social Supermarket goes to the Charity to contribute to the running costs of delivery this scheme.
Box of Rainbows Scheme Many children experiencing long term debilitating illness do not have the same opportunities as other children. Their lives often involve hospital visits, continual medical treatments and poor health. Many lack opportunities for making personal choices, social inclusion and spending time with others to do fun activities and play. This has a negative impact on the mental health of these young people which in turn isolates them further. The workshops and gift boxes are provided through a combination of grant funding and donations.

Section D Achievements and performance
Food4Good Summary of the main Thanks to surplus food donations from Tesco and Asda, REMO has achievements of the charity collected and distributed 36,894 meals worth of free food to 9,970 during the year people. Thanks to additional corporate donations The Food4Good Social Supermarket has also distributed 9,583 for a small donation towards cost of collections. There were an additional 936 people for whom we did not have suitable or enough food to help so this will be a gap in service provision that we will try to close. Beneficiaries are only asked for their postcode and the numbers in the household so that we can map how far people travel in for the food support offered. The majority of postcodes are: PE13 0/1/2/3/4/5 and PE14 0.
Box of Rainbows Arts and crafts boxes are prepared with the help of volunteers and posted or hand delivered depending on beneficiary location. The boxes can be requested through our Facebook, website, email or by referral from a support organisation. Volunteers REMO operates 50 weeks of the year over which time our small team of regular and volunteering event volunteers contributed a total of 3,072 hours of volunteering.
