A significant aspect of this is the<br>provision of equipment including pickers, high<br>visibility tabards, gloves and various other<br>resources required to complete litter picks safely<br>and successfully. The purchase of the charity van<br>has been vital to the charity’s ability to fulfil its<br>purpose and continue to grow and have a positive<br>impact on the local area.<br>The charity has worked with the local Council,<br>landowners, local groups and communities to<br>ensure that the areas in most need of attention are<br>targeted as well as the practical arrangements such<br>as meeting points, parking arrangements and<br>ensuring the litter collected is in a suitable location<br>for removal by the local Council following the event.<br>During the litter picks, members of the organisation<br>have provide advice and guidance about how to<br>remain safe whilst collecting litter in the area as well<br>as taking the opportunity to promote the benefits of<br>keeping the area free of litter and educating the<br>community.<br>The organisation regularly attends local large scale<br>public events (such as Aylesbury Party in The Park<br>Weekend) arranged by Buckinghamshire Council|





|||and Aylesbury Town Council with a view to<br>educating the public about the environmental<br>impacts on littering, promoting the benefits of litter<br>picking and promoting a re-purposing and recycling<br>culture.<br>The organisation has also worked with local<br>businesses, schools and youth groups (e.g. Scouts<br>& Guides) to arrange group litter picks for their staff<br>and students as well as craft and educational<br>sessions. All equipment and disposal of waste is<br>provided to those who take part.|

|Summary of the main<br>achievements of the charity,<br>identifying the difference the<br>charity’s work has made to<br>the circumstances of its<br>beneficiaries and any wider<br>benefits to society as a<br>whole.|Para<br>1.20|•<br>By the end of April 2023, The Aylesbury<br>Wombles had collected a total of 16975<br>bags of litter cleared from the streets,<br>green spaces and waterways across the<br>Aylesbury area (since forming in 2019).<br>•<br>Found a number of bikes which have been<br>repaired and donated to bike projects in<br>the local area<br>•<br>‘Womble workshops’ presented to youth<br>groups/schools about the impact litter has,<br>reusing, recycling, reducing also talked<br>about in a fun interactive way.<br>•<br>Took part in national initiatives such as<br>‘The Great British Spring Clean’ and ‘Keep<br>Britain Tidy’.<br>•<br>‘Le Womble 24hr’ in June volunteers litter<br>picked for 24hrs collecting litter and raised<br>money through sponsorships and<br>donations for another local charity.<br>•<br>A number of Duke of Edinburgh award<br>volunteers have been given places this<br>year with the charity.<br>•<br>At the Parklife Weekend event in August,<br>the Aylesbury Wombles assisted with<br>waste management and provided<br>interactive activities including crafts to<br>educate young people within the<br>community.|
