THE JORDAN SINNOTT FOUNDATION TRUST REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES For the year ended 31 March 2024

The saddest of news

On 11th November 2023 our Chair, the backbone of our Charity and Jordans mum, Melanie passed away after a hard and long fought battle with cancer.

We were all, and still are, totally heartbroken by Melanie’s passing.

She was a bold, powerful woman with a superstar aura, who showed such immeasurable strength.

Anyone who met Melanie, knew they had been in the presence of one of life greats. We promise to keep the JSFT Charity at the forefront of everything we do.

Before Melanie passed away she took part in a sponsored parachute jump to help raise funds for the JSFT and MacMillan, who helped her on her cancer journey. She remained, till the end, the bravest, strongest supporter of the JSFT Charity.

Hello from Kelly and Maisie Jordan Sinnott

Kelly, Jordan’s fiancé took over the reins as Chair of the Trustee Board of the JSFT in November 2023. Kelly is supported by 12 Trustees. Together we govern the way the charity is run, fundraise, award grants and promote the JSFT Charity wherever and whenever possible.

“We have the most amazing team at JSFT and together we are working towards creating Jordan the legacy he deserves. There will forever be a hole in my heart since losing Jordan but it’s comforting to know that our charity is making a positive impact on other people’s lives. I am immensely proud of what we have achieved so far and it wouldn’t be possible without our incredible network of supporters, together we are making a difference.”

THE JORDAN SINNOTT FOUNDATION TRUST REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES For the year ended 31 March 2024

In submitting their Annual Report together with the consolidated financial statements of The Jordan Sinnott Foundation Trust for the year ended 31 March 2024, the Trustees have ensured that all financial statements comply with the Charity Act 2011 and Accounting & Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102, effective 1 January 2019).

Charitable Purpose & Public Benefit

The Jordan Sinnott Foundation Trust was established following the tragic and untimely death of footballer Jordan Sinnott in January 2020.

It is a grant awarding organisation who’s objectives are:

The Charity Trustees are keen to support activities that advance the Objects in an effective way. However, they recognise that a limited amount of funds is available to distribute each year.

The Charity Trustees' current funding priorities are:

7

The Charity Trustees welcome proposals that support their funding priorities from, organisations individuals and other charities that further the Charity’s Objects, although the Charity Trustees are particularly keen to support vulnerable and under privileged children and young adults. The Charity Trustees will occasionally award grants that fall outside their priorities provided that they are satisfied that the grant will further the Objectives and is an appropriate use of the Charity’s funds.

Reporting requirements and monitoring: The Charity Trustees will take steps to monitor the use of the grant and verify that the grant is used for the purposes that have been agreed. The arrangements for monitoring will vary according to the nature of the grant and its size, but the Charity Trustees will always seek to ensure that the arrangements are appropriate and proportional.

We are mindful of the need to use our donated income and resources in the most efficient way, and we continue to review all our activity to ensure we meet the changing needs of those we support.

Grants

Here are some of the organisations and individuals who have benefitted from a JSFT grant during the financial period 01/04/2023 – 31/03/2024

Responsibilities of the Board of Trustees

The Trustees are responsible for preparing the Trustees’ Annual Report and the financial statement. In preparing this we have:

The Board is responsible for maintaining proper accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity.

The Board is also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.

In so far as the trustees are aware:

Risk Management

The Board of Trustees reviews detailed assessments of the risks to which the Charity may be exposed.

Comprehensive governance arrangements are in place to oversee risk management. We have identified 3 key risks that we believe are critical to developing our plans for the year and to drive our more strategic planning.

Generating Income - That the income required to maintain our grant making services at the planned level is not secured.

Mitigating action:

10

Demand and meeting needs - That the demand for grants far exceeds services our planned levels, and we are unable to meet the needs of the communities we serve.

Mitigating action:

Reputation - That there is significant damage to the Jordan Sinnott Foundation Trusts’ reputation and brand such that it negatively affects income or demand for grant making, or that significantly critical judgement is received from our regulators and/or commissioners.

Mitigating action:

Structure and Governance

The Jordan Sinnott Foundation Trust is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, incorporated in England and Wales on 1st June 2021, with charitable status awarded on 29th November 2022. The charity is governed by its Constitution which requires a minimum of 3 Trustees.
