Basis of preparation
The accounts have been prepared under the historical cost convention and in accordance wlh
FRS 102, The Financial Reporting Standard applicable In the UK and Republic of Ireland las
applied lo small entities by section 1A of the standard).

Turnover is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable, nel of discounts
and value added taxes. Turnover includes revenue earned from the sale of goods and from the
rendering of services. Turnover from the sale of goods is recognised when the significant nsks
and rewards of ownership of the goods have transferred lo the buyer. Tumover from the rendering
of sefvices is recognised by reference to the stage of completion of the contract. The stage of
completion of a contract is measured by comparing the costs InCUr￿d for work performed lo date
lo the lolal eslimaled contract costs.

Intangible fi'xed assets are measured al cost less accumulative amorb"sation and any a¢cumulalive
impairment losses.

Invostments
Investments in subsidianes, associates and joint ventures are measured al cost less any
accumulated Impaimenl losses. Listed investments are measured al fair value. Unlisted
investments afe measured al fair value unless the value cannot be measured reliably, In which
case they are measured al cost less any accumulated impaimient losses. Changes in fair value
are included in the profit and loss accounL
Stocks
Stocks are measured al the lower of cost and ests"maled selling price less costs lo complete and
sell. Cost Is determined using the first in fir51 out method. The carrying amount of stock sold is
cognised as an expense in the period in which the related revenue Is reeognised.
Debtors
Short term debtors are measured at transaction pri￿ {which Is usualty the invoice pricel, less any
impaimienl 1055es for bad and doubtful debts. Loans and other financial assets are initially
recognised at transaction price including any transacb'on costs and subsequently measured at
amortised cost determined using the effective interest method. less any irnpairmenl losses for bad

Creditors
Short term creditors are measured at transaction price (which is usualty the invoice pricel. Loans
and other financial liabilities are inilialty recognised al transactr.on price net of any transaction costs
and subsequendy measured at arnortised cost determined using the effective interest method.
Taxation
A eurrent tax liability is recognised for the tax payable on the taxable profit of the current and past
periods. A current tax asset Is recognised in respect of a tax loss that can be carried back lo
recover lax paid in a previou5 period. Deferred lax is recognised In respect of all liming differences
betsveen the recognition of income and expenses in the financial stslements and their inclusion in
lax assessments. Unrelieved tax losses and other deferred tax assets are recognised only to the
extent that il is probable that they will be recovered against the reversal of deferred lax liabilities or
other future taxable profit5. Deferred tax Is measured using the tax rates and laws that have been
enacted or subslanlively enacted by the reports'ng dale and that are expected lo apply lo the
reversal ol the liming difference, except for revalued land and investment propety where the lax
rate that applies to the sale of the asset 1$ used. Current and deferred lax assets and liabilitie5 ar8
not discounted.
Provlsions
Provisions lie liabilities of uncertain liming or amount) are ￿cognised when there is an obligation
at the reporting dale as a result of a past event, il is probable that economic benefi't will be
transferred lo settle the obligation and the amount of the obl￿allOn can be estimated reliably.
Foralgn currency translatlon
Transactions in foreign currencies are initially recognised at the rate of exchange ruling at the date
of the Iransaclion. Al the end ol each reporting period foreign currency monetary Items are
translated al the closing rale of exchange. Non-monelary items that are measured al historical
cost are translated at the rale ruling al the date of the Iransaclion. All differences are charged to
profil or loss.
Léasèd assèts
A lease Is classifigd as a finance lease if it transfers $ubstants"ally all th& ri$k$ and rewards
incidental lo ownership. All other leases are classified as operating leases. The rights of use and
obligations under finance leases are Inilialty recognised as assets and liabilities al amounts equal
to the fair value of the leased assets or, if lower. the present value of the minimum lease
P8ymenl$. Minimum lease payments are apportioned be￿een the Iinance charge and the
reduction in the outstanding liability using the effective Inte￿St rale method. The finance charge is
allocated lo each period during the lease so as to produce a constant periodic rate of Interest on
the remaining bala￿ce of the liability. Leased assets are depreciated In accordance with the
company's policy for tangible fixed assets. If there is no reasonable certainty that ownership will be
obtained al the end of the lease term, the asset is depreciated over the lower of the lease lerrn
and ils useful life. Operating lease payments are recognised as an expense on a slraighl line basis
over the lease term.
Pensions
Contributions lo defined contribution plans are expensed in the period to which they relate.

The CIO seek5 to expand access to combat sports amongst under privileged communities in Bury and
nearby areas. We use Sport as a means lo deter criminality l youth violence, improve health and well
being and enhance community Cohesion. We seek lo develop local young people through both sport,
education and mentoring.

We are delighted lo present our Annual Repwt for the year 118123- 3117124, which is our 3rd year as a
registered charity. The organisalion continues to go from strength lo slrenglh and we have had a busy
year in lerms of Ihe expansion of our activities. We are n¢)w delivering the following comb81 sports

We have 6 Irus18es. 6 part lime staff lincludlng 1 Charity Manager, 1 Gym Supervisor and 4 Gym
Assislanlsl. We also have 10 casu81 sports instructors. 2 casual Youth Mentors and another 8
volunteers.
Most of the day-to-day responsibilities have been delegated by Trustees lo the Charity Manager, who
manages the other Gym Siaff. The Sports instructors are casual workers who attend lo deliver various
combat sports classes here every week and Ihe Youth Mentors are casual staff who lake on referrals
from Ihe Charity Manager for young people vtho require mentoring and additional 5UPPOrt.
Future Plans
We would like lo expand our secondary and lerttary tier intervention Work lo prevent youth violence.
criminality and disrupt gang activity in the local area. We are looking lo employ additional Youth Mentors
who can help lum around the lives of local young people who are involved in criminality.
Our oducalional activities are currently constrained by lack of space with 2 small classrooms. We would
like lo expand our Holiday Club, Arabic School and be able lo offer more supplementsry education
activities and this will be made possible through capital expenditure in the years ahead.
