Chairs Report
Welcome to our second AGM
Since the last AGM we have grown considerably, and that's testament to the passionate people we have in our team.
We have delivered a number of successful sessions for LGBTQ+ people, which I will summarise below:
Monthly hikes - travel by coach included to places such as Mam Tor, Derwent Springs, Chatsworth.
These have gained traction more recently with a surge in interest and attendance. We have experienced a number of last minute drop outs, so we will encourage people to let us know if they can't attend as soon as possible to ensure every seat on the bus is filled.
The Rainbow Collective -quarterly networking meeting for LGBTQ+ organisations.
Led by Alice, this was particularly well attended leading up to pride 2023. The past couple of meetings haven't gone ahead due to low attendance. The board continue to see the value of these meetings for insight and cohesion.
The Spencer Trust Swims - exclusive use of a pool for LGBTQ+ people.
These were really popular sessions delivered by The Nottingham Forager. Feedback was really positive, however the sessions have ceased due to pool availability. There is a possibility for these to be run in the future at The Lenton Centre where Russell works.
beYOUty - quarterly beauty masterclass for Trans women in a centrally located clinic.
Sunday 21st January 2024, 12.00pm
This has been a popular session, with positive feedback. Adam delivers a make up masterclass with nails provided by Laura H. Personalized makeup bags are also given with full sized quality products provided by L'Oreal.
Speed Socials - regular event held at wagamama, where LGBTQ+ people can make new friends or more.
Hosted by Liam including a free welcome drink and side dish for each 20 minute interaction. These have grown in popularity but there have been some last minute cancellations. Liam has developed this partnership with
wagamama and they have recently donated £5000 to us. We plan to use this towards a wellbeing retreat for LGBTQ+ people experiencing poor mental health.
Stalls
We have held stalls at Nottingham Pride, Boots HQ Pride, Netherfield Pride and Morrisons Pride
Survey the Scene - a Nottinghamshire wide online questionnaire to better understand the experiences and needs of the LGBTQ+ community.
We received over 150 responses which exceeded our expectations. We
haven't managed to collate all the data but we now have a placement student from NTU compiling this into a report for us to share publicly.
Games Days - Board Games Club
We held a number of board games sessions at 2 Gaming Centers. These have ceased for the time being.
We have shared a total of £1,679 of our funds to some incredible causes! Including; Nottingham Frontrunners, Singing Proud, Nottingham Against Transphobia, Nottingham Badminton Social Club and Notts Trans Hub. We have also recently agreed to fund Genderphoria, a support group for young people.
Sunday 21st January 2024, 12.00pm
Groovebox Pride and Binks Yard donated £1000 following their inaugural Pride Festival and we look forward to being their chosen partner for Nottinghamshire Pride 2024.
Shoosmiths have chosen us as their charity of the year. In addition to committing £3000 to us this year, their staff are fundraising for us at events such as the Robin Hood Half Marathon. They have also agreed to sign gender recognition certificates for our community.
Laura and Saul have been looking at different ways that we can fundraise through events, and have exciting plans for this year. They delivered a successful fundraising activity involving bars or chocolate, which raised over £1000 at Sanctuary's Christmas party in aid of TST - where additional funds were also raised.
I particularly want to mention a couple of new members of our team since the last AGM, who have been incredible this year:
Liam stepped up to take on the Volunteer Coordinator position in the last AGM. In that time he has completed a number of Volunteer Management training sessions at NCVS, and quickly set about developing policies and an induction process for new volunteers. He genuinely cares about our team, he has a big heart and makes sure everyone in our team is doing ok. Liam has gone above and beyond his role, developing partnerships with organisations such as wagamama, the health shop and Nottingham City Hospital. He is leading on developing an offer for people living with HIV and AIDS in Nottingham, and also providing gender recognition certificates in partnership with Shoosmiths.
Kristy, our Aussie pocket rocket, we recruited as a volunteer from NTU. She has really helped to build our brand through her eye catching designs and engaging copy; she has set an accessible and fun tone for the charity, one

which I always envisioned. I know each and every post she does is well researched and thought out. She not only works hard weekly behind the scenes, but has been an enthusiastic presence at some of our events too.
Looking forward to the year ahead, I know that we will continue to grow and develop our essential support to the LGBTQ+ community. I look forward to being a more diverse team, and diversifying our provision; reaching more people in need.
