The main events that we have organised or been invoived ￿ during the year {all with the valued ￿pP)rt of
volunteers) are..
Tend the park sessions- th8se are gardening ac*vibes in the Park- typically every month In the
Springlearty Summer months and then again in the Autumn. We have planted spring bulbs and plants
all over the park as well as undertakin9 dearan￿ sessions in the copse 2nd American Gardens.
Litter pickin9- every Monday moming from Easter to September a small group supports the park staff
in picking up lrtter where this has been left by visitors and then spread by foxes even if left in the park
bins. Litter control in the park o)nkn"nues to be a challenging issue, espeually when the weather is wam
enough for pic-nics and take away fcrf)d in the park. The issue of litter and waste collecb'on in the part¢
has been raised with Ihe park management and Counallors and is the subject of on-going discussions.
The May park fair- we support Southwark Council in organising a fair in the park every May. This year.
the fair will tske place on Sunday 12 May 12-5pm and is free of charge to enter. We extend parb'cular
thanks lo Emily Montsgue, Nino Harvey-Jones and Trevor Moore who put in en￿S efforts to make
this event enjoyable and a financiai succe55.

Liaising with Southwark CouncilkKs and Pa￿ management th issues arise which affect the Park
and visitors to it eg seeking supp)rt to arrange the installation of a defibrillator at Ihe Francis Peek
Centre and other Path maintenance issues.
Making applications for Southwark Council grants to fund actNrties and improvemenls in the park. for
example under the Cleaner, Safer, Greener grant funding scheme. We enjoyed good success this year
with grants awarded for Tend the Park plants and materials and for lake improvemenl works. Sadly, our
application for fox-proof and laryer ￿eelIe birts to repla￿ the existing park bins was not successfijl.
Representing the interests of park usws and the weseThation of the fabnc of the park in the face of
increasing number of comThrual events in the path such as Pub in the Park and Luna Cinema.
Representing park usws at one off events- this year Emily Montague thed wrth SouÈhwark Council
who have installed a toilet and changing facilty for disabled thildren and adults. It was opened on 9
March 2024 and is located near the café area.

A number of ￿￿pOrate and sch￿1 groups ktrHJty send groups to do jobs such as weed pulling and
bramblè dearancg in the American Garden.

Our finances
Income from memborship Subscriptions was £1,792 {£2.387 last year) and grants of £1,130 for the concert
bands in 2023. We received a donation of £290 {from Du￿1Ch &Kiety) towards the Francis Peek Plaque and
£1,900 {various organisationsl toward$ the Fair.
Expenditure for the year was £4,8671£6.017 last yearl mainty for our events. We made a d¢)nation of £483
towards the green h(yJse at Du￿1¢h Vegetable Garden. We spent £200 on the report on the rhododendrons.
We currenuy have cash in bank of £13.189 {£12,852 last yearl.
We have 190 fully paid househdd members {242 last year) The drop is from setting up as a CIO and asking
members to set up I￿4 Direct Debits for our new bank account.

facilty of hist￿1¢ and ecological interesL preserving the teatures. conseNing the natural parkland and wildlife
sanctuary and enhanang the whde of the area and the use of r( ts the relaxation. leisure and tranquillity of the
public and to stimulate the interest of the Wb1￿ in the Park and the enhancement of the whole area, rts
restoration and preservation..

Widening our v￿unteer baw therg are always jobs to do- please spread the wc*dl
Seleeling some key proierts to work on- eg the Japar*se Garden and work to Improve the overgrovrth
at the lake. We would also likè vdunt88rs to help start a new project to ra43e funds for refurbishment
work in the playground.
To work ￿th the new park management team {Andrew Williams replaces Phil Barwell. Robert Roach
continues as Andrew's deputy). New in￿'alIveS indude a quarterly %Yalk around" of ihe pafk with
management to highlFght any issues of ¢oncem.
