2023 wa5 another hi8hly 5uccessftJl year with a total of 8 awards being made {7 in 20221. The Brants totalled $24,500

NBC attended the Global Birdf3ir at Oakham, UK in Juty 2023. This prowded an opportunity to meet members of the
general public and our own members in order to explatn the need ro conserve threatened Neotropical birds the

Davld Flsher Memorial Lerture
At our lirst AGM we screened a lecture by Or. Alexander Lees entitletl 'Bird migration in the Neotropics., This is
av311ablt on YouTube. The lerture was in honourof our former Chair. David Fisher, who is much missed.

thank the organisations and Individuals who despite the on80ing economic effect of the wortdwide pandemiG
t)everthele5S. tontinued to support NBC dudn8 the year, espeually the March Conservation Fund whose on8oln8
support makes a huge dilference to the number and size of conseThation awards which can be funded.

obviously be nece$5ary to con5idei hDW lh& funding would be replaced or attivities thanged accordingly should suth

Grants are made to fund ornithological and conservation projects in the Neotrow(s and are made both to locally
based institutions ltypitally non-govemmental or8anisationsl aftd to ÈndNidua15 undertaking relevant re5earth on
threatened speoes or habitats. Pieference is 8Nen to projetts undertaken by Neotropical nationa15 and where NBC'S
ontribution pays for a significant percentage of the work. In retum for providin8 fundiTr& NBC requests rètiplèftts to
provide a paper for possible publication in Colin80 or Neotropical Birding detailrng the results of the projecL

The tharitable incorporated or8ani5ation was establi4hed ¢)n 10 November 2021 and ￿[stered by the Charity
Commission for En8land and Wale5 With the number 1196505. It was establtshed in order to acquire the undertaking
ol the Neotropic318ird aub lan untncorporated association fonned under a trust deed and regIste￿d as a tharity on
16 August 1994 with the number 1040l3￿ereafteT referred to as'the predecessorfl. NBC atquired that undertsking
wth effert from l Aprfl 2022 and accordlngty commenced activities on that date.
Decislon rnakkng
The charity Ss managed on a voluntary basis by the trustees, known tollertNdy as NBCS Counol.
The first trustees were appointed with effect from re815tratioft of the CIO and thereafter the remalnlng trusiees were
co-opted by the fiist trustee5. Each apptyntment terminate5 on the first AGM of the CIO. Thereafter trustees will be
elected by the membets at that AGM to serve tsntsl the next AGM. NBC'S Couwl may ctropt trustee5 until the next
AGM.
The trustees are responsible the day-to-day runnin8 of the charity and typically rneet three times per annum with
telephDne conference calls between meetings where and when this is deemed appropriate. Arèas of activity which
8enetally are distussed at each meeting indude updates from the thair, Setretary and Treasurer, as well as individual
trvstees with specllic areas of re5pon5ibiltty- Indivldual trustees have day-to-dzy decision-makin8 authority wlthln
their dedicated area of resp￿s1￿111￿ and vrrithln the polities and constraints specified at meetings of trustees.
