## **Park View Project Annual Report 31[st] March 2026** ## **Objectives** ## **The objectives of the CIO:** To promote social inclusion for the public benefit by preventing people from becoming socially excluded, relieving the needs of those who are socially excluded, and assisting them to integrate into society, primarily through improving their digital skills and other methods deemed appropriate by the trustees. For the purpose of this clause, ‘socially excluded’ refers to being excluded from society or a portion thereof due to membership in a socially and economically deprived community. ## **Trustees:** - Ann Craven - Helen Dawson - Sue Adams - Martin Lee - Simon Schofield - Vicki Peacock (Chair) **Bankers:** Barclays Bank ## **Aims & Objectives:** - Enable residents of North Tyneside to manage everyday household tasks using digital media and internet products, including various social media sites like Tumblr, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, etc. - Facilitate beneficiaries in managing their lives more efficiently and effectively and pursuing their goals and aspirations through an online presence. - Encourage users to support and interact with each other both online and offline via our website forums and live chat. - Promote personal development by addressing isolation and increasing confidence, motivation, self-esteem, and skills through our Community Reporter Learning Programme. - Increase volunteering opportunities through our Online Chums mentoring program where volunteers assist individuals with various support needs. - Support our volunteers and beneficiaries by promoting personal development portfolios that document experiences and achievements during their time with the project. - Discuss cyber awareness and anti-bullying strategies in a social setting using Park View Projects e-platforms and provide support to victims of online abuse. - Provide access to various independent projects such as "WW1 – The Bigger Picture" and “Working with Older People and the Digital Divide,” all of which emphasize digital engagement. - Maintain an extensive IT suite equipped with PCs, loan library, and Apple Mac desktop computers, along with specialized support for CV creation, benefit applications, and job searches, ensuring data security in compliance with the 1998 Data Protection Act - Offer both online and offline digital learning tools, such as Learn My Way. ## **Agenda:** **1. Project Update:** Dr. Bob Dennis Much of our website has now been updated to maintain effective accessibility for disabled members. This design change has increased our membership by 18% over the 2025 – 2026 period. This reflects the issues many disabled and older people face today. ## **4. Training Update:** _**Access Foundation Digital Inclusion Project**_ administered by North Tyneside Disability Forum involves Park View Project is providing specialist digital support to vulnerable people: Dr Bob Dennis, Chair of NTDF, shared what the grant means to the organisation: _“For some people IT and IT equipment is liberating – for others, it is overwhelming. The increased use of it can prove discriminatory when ordinary people don’t have access to hardware and software that enables them to participate equally. The everyday need to scan codes or visit portals is a massive barrier to many. This support helps NTDF engage our demographic with 21st-century digital life, reducing exclusion and increasing confidence.”_ ## **5. Other developments:** ## _**Risks to disabled and older individuals if Government decides to implement under 16 social media bans:**_ Although a ban on under‑16s using social media is aimed at protecting children, most proposals rely on system‑wide changes (age‑verification, platform restrictions, design changes). That means the effects would not be limited to children—they could spill over to disabled people and older adults in several important ways. ## **5. Any other business:** None reported.
