Financial InstTuments
Objeclives oNdPoli¢i
The principal financial risk is that a substantial element of the Charity's income comprises short.teTm grants. whilst its
most significoot expenditure is what it regords as long-terni commitments associated with the costs of its pennanent
staff. There is therefore a risk thai its income srreams will not be sufficient to meet its longer-tenn expenditure
Commitments. In ihe prevailing ma¢roe¢onomi¢ envirotJmen( inflation is on an upward trend whilst the Charity's core
income is fixed for the next two years. However, th¢ Charity prepare5 annual budgets and regular forecasts throughout
the year in order to monitor any imbalanc¢s between ineome and eXpendi￿re, and it prepares rolling budgets in order to
understand its longer-tern) exposure to such imbalatJc¢s. This ¢nabl¢s it ¢0 lake any ne¢e55ary actions to bring its
¢xpendiiur¢ into line with its income. The Charity a]so holds sufficient reserves to enable it to minimi5e the advers¢
impa¢t on its business of Any su¢h misa]ignm¢nt which it consid¢rs necessary.
