The objects of the CIO are to advance such charitable purposes (according to the laws of England and Wales) as the trustees see fit from time to time in particular but not limited to the promotion of human rights, (as set out in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and subsequent United Nations conventions and declarations) by all or any of the following means:
(a) research into human rights issues;
(b) raising awareness of human rights issues;
(c) promoting public support for human rights; and
(d) relieving need among victims of human rights abuse. The above purposes to be furthered by way of making grants to individuals in need and/or charities working to further such purposes.

The Trust creates queer positive content online, offers workshops for awareness building and achieves direct support to individuals as well as working with a network of passionate and dedicated volunteers located in Egypt and the MENA region.
**Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)**
The Trust’s network has to navigate the region's unique challenges for queer communities; discrimination, violence, and a lack of access to mental health and legal services. This is all done at considerable personal risk to the people who work within this sector in the MENA region, who continually have to relocate and change contact details, in order to stay safe. SEAT acts as a loud and proud channel for funding and campaigning so that they can continue supporting people who are persecuted because of their sexuality or gender identity.
The Trust’s work is completed by 8 amazing volunteers, who collaborate from 8 different corners of the world! They produce all of the media content including translation work so that SEAT is accessible to as wide an audience as possible.
SEAT also works with a diverse range of regional organisations - refugee groups, feminist movements, and other civil society organisations - to create a network of support for queer people in the Middle East and North Africa region. By working closely with these groups on the ground, the Trust can tailor programs and services to meet the specific needs of communities and have a positive impact directly with individuals who need help.
Most, if not all, of these organisations and volunteers have to remain anonymous due to the danger that being openly queer, or to be seen to be supporting the queer community, carries with it. Partnerships with all of these groups have allowed the Trust to spread the message to a much wider audience and it wouldn’t be possible without their collaboration.
