STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE & MANAGEMENT
GOVERNING DOCUMENT
Echor Music is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) governed by a foundation model constitution, first registered as a CIO on 2nd November 2021 under the Charity Registration Number 1196352.
WIDER NETWORK
The Trustees maintain informal links with Trustees of similar Trusts with a view to pooling experience considered useful in pursuing the objects of the Trust.
RISK MANAGEMENT
The management committee regularly reviews the major risks to which the charity is exposed and systems are established to mitigate these risks. These procedures are periodically reviewed to ensure that they still meet the needs of the charity.
ACTIVITIES AND ACHIEVEMENTS
In its fourth year of operation, Echor Music has continued to further its impact as a cultural and artistic force in its locality.
Having established itself as a vital community fixture with regular, well-attended events, we have seen an increase in our Friends scheme to around 125 supporters with a 25% rise in subscriptions. A strong social bond has developed amongst our audience, volunteers and general community, fostering a force for good through a shared love and appreciation for culture, and a combined effort to create life-affirming events for all in the community. Through this scheme we experience a high level of involvement and volunteering from the community, encouraging a spirit of inclusion and mutual benefit. We are immensely grateful for the support we receive, both financially and otherwise, without which we would be unable to develop our programme.
An increased free ticket take-up and involvement of “under 18s” has continued to gather momentum, exposing the highest quality of music making and education to the youngest generation. In 11 events we played to over 700 people, offering free tickets to children under 18. Three of our concerts were free of charge for all, opening up music to those who feel they could otherwise not afford it. We continue to publicise more broadly, embracing newcomers, often seeing them return for more events and become supporters by joining our “Friends” scheme.
Developing our eclectic programming, genres spanned from Renaissance and Baroque, Classical and Romantic through to Jazz, Blues and contemporary classical, utilising anything from one to over 40 performers on stage for full orchestral concerts. Events included a return engagement for Chiltern Arts festival, collaborating with actor Anton Lesser. Our affecting, educational and themed events touch, inspire and inform our audiences.

Trustee's Annual Report
In the coming year we intend to include a three-day festival of music, with elements especially for children, and further expand the educational aspect of our concerts telling the stories of music, composers and their interaction with the arts generally.
A financial review of our activities is set out in the attached accounts.
RESERVES POLICY
Our reserves policy requires sufficient unrestricted funds are held to cover three months’ normal costs.
GOING CONCERN
The financial statements of the charity have been prepared on a going concern basis as the trustees have assessed the going concern position and have no reason to believe that there are any material uncertainties that would affect the ability of the charity to continue as a going concern for the foreseeable future. The largest expense is performers’ fees, and before making decisions on budgets for future activities, the trustees review year on year cash flow. The trustees have considered the next 12 months and have reviewed post-date reports for that period in making their assessment.
FINANCIAL REVIEW
The trustees have considered the financial position at the balance sheet date and are pleased that the finances are improving. Our income exceeded budgetary expectations and we ended the year with a higher level of reserves than was predicted. The trustees are confident that the goal of 3 months running costs in the bank will be maintained during the year 24/25 and that the organisation is still a going concern.
PUBLIC BENEFIT
The Trustees confirm that they have complied with their duty under section 4 of the Charities Act 2011 to have due regard to the Charity Commission’s general guidance to charities on public benefit.
The trustees confirm that they have referred to the guidance contained in the Charity Commission's general guidance on public benefit when reviewing the charity's aims and objectives and in planning future activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE TRUSTEES
Charity law requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the Trust as at the balance sheet date and of its incoming resources and application of resources, including income and expenditure for the financial year.
In preparing those financial statements the trustees should follow best practice and
-
select suitable accounting policies and apply them consistently
-
make judgments and estimates that are reasonable and prudent and
-
prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to assume that the charity will continue on that basis.
The trustees are responsible for maintaining proper accounting records which disclose at any time the financial position of the charity and to enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with charity legislation. The trustees are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.
Approved by the trustees and signed on their behalf

Independent Examiner's Report
I report to the trustees on my examination of the financial statements of Echor Music ('the charity') for the year ended 31 August 2025.
Responsibilities and basis of report
As the trustees of the charity you are responsible for the preparation of the financial statements in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’).
I report in respect of my examination of the charity's financial statements carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
Independent examiner's statement
I confirm that I am qualified to undertake the examination because I am a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), which is one of the listed bodies.
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:
-
accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 130 of the Act; or
-
the financial statements do not accord with those records; or
-
the financial statements do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair' view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

Notes to the Financial Statements
1 Accounting Policies
1.1 Basis of Preparation
The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the Statement of Recommended Practice: Accounting and Reporting by Charities Financial Reporting Standards applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (Charities SORP 2019 FRS 102) and the Charities Act 2011.
1.2 Assessment of Going Concern
Preparation of the accounts is on a going concern basis. The trustees consider that there are no material uncertainties about the charity's ability to continue as a going concern.
1.3 Fund Accounting
Unrestricted income funds comprise those funds which the trustees are free to use for any purpose in furtherance of the charitable objects. Unrestricted funds include designated funds where the trustees, at their discretion, have set aside resources for a specific purpose.
Restricted funds are funds which are to be used in accordance with specific restrictions imposed by the donor.
Further explanation of the nature and purpose of each fund is included in the notes to the accounts.
1.4 Incoming Resources
• All incoming resources are recognised once the charity has entitlement to the resources, it is probable that the resources will be received, and the monetary value of incoming resources can be measured with sufficient reliability.
• Grants where entitlement is not conditional on the delivery of specific performance by the charity are recognised when the charity becomes unconditionally entitled to the grant.
• Donated services and facilities are included at the value to the charity where this can be quantified and the donation is material to the accounts.
• Volunteer time, the value of voluntary support for the work of the charity, is not included in the accounts but is described in the accounts.
• Investment income is included in the accounts when receivable.
1.5 Resources Expanded
Expenditure is recognised on an accrual basis as a liability is incurred. Liabilities are recognised where it is more likely than not that there is a legal or constructive obligation committing the charity to pay out the resources and the amount of the obligation can be measured with reasonable certainty.
1.6 Governance Costs
Include costs of the preparation and examination of statutory accounts, the costs of the trustees' meetings and cost of any legal advice to trustees on governance or constitutional matters.

Notes to the Financial Statements
1.7 Liability Recognition
Liabilities are recognised as soon as there is a legal or constructive obligation committing the charity to pay out resources.
1.8 Taxation
The charity is exempt from tax on its charitable activities.
1.9 Judgements and Key Sources of Estimation Uncertainty
There have been no significant judgements (apart from those involving estimates) made in the process of preparing the financial statements. There have been no key assumptions concerning the future and other key sources of estimation uncertainty at the reporting date that have a significant risk of causing a material adjustment to the carrying amounts of assets and liabilities within the next financial year.
