FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2022
ObjeclÉv8¥ and Actfvltle
We aim io serve our ¢ornmunitles prayerfully, and to work tooether with friends wlthin the chureh communty and
beyond, aitning to play our part in the building ol God's Klngdom and helping ￿Ople to experiencè God's love antj
grow as ttisciples Df Jesus. We enjoy each. tsther's eofflpany as we celebrate Gi)d's hope and Ilfe and the beauty of
Creation.
Finonclal Rwi8w
The total amtsunt ol everyday income. which èx¢lud&s restricted funds, lor thè yaar was £71 k. The ioial amount ol
everyday 8xp&nditure was £73k. The everyday, or unrestricted. d81i¢it for the year was £2k.
Income swilically ralating lo ￿edged giving, which In¢ludes tax rec1￿med. for this yearwas £47k. Fund raising
activities were £4k in 2022.
The overall dèli¢it, including re5tricÈed and endowment funds, wa5 £15k This deficit wa8 due to the loss on
investments of £17k in 2022.
D8tailed financial iftformauon is given in the pages that folbw. An Tren7 to note Is that th8 2022 Ministry Share and
2022 Diocesan Fees were PaKI in full. We were thanked by th¢ Diocese lor achi8ving both of these targets.
As last year, many members of the ¢ongreg8tion reviawèd their general glving, and thère has been increased take-
up of th8 Parish Giving Scheme. The PCC continue rtsi do all they ¢an to encourag& people Éo gfrrfe via the Pari8h
Giving Scheme.. the extent to which glving in this way rtTrduces the wodload of voluntees 8t parish level cannot be
over-slat￿, and we hope more oivers will switch to this scheme In 2023 if they are able lo do so. The PCC 1$ of
course grateful to all givers, whatever meth¢xl trey uss.
As a congregation, w¢ currently benolit frorn various bwuests and gitts thatwero lett by Basil Sladi, Gra
Norman, Mrs Jill Clark and Arthur Lyon, in addition lo the Cow611 and Peacoek bequests which We￿ substantial for
their timè and have been particularly important in dlowing us to fund gen8ral Church ministry, the youth ministy,
and rèpairs related to thg roof, bells and tower. Church rnernbers are invitsd to consider whetherthey might wantto
makè provision foi future congregations by leawng lasting b&qu8$ts or gifting through their wills.
The financial outlook is still challgllging, but we are making progress goi)d progress as 8videnced by pa5qng both
the Ministry Share in lull this year.
Prindpal hJnding sour¢es
The? regular sources of funds lor norrnal operations are charitable donations from Church members, fund raising
activities which bring in conthbutions from th8 wider community, statutory fe¢s due from wgddlngs and funerals. and
interest and dividends from our investment holdings. Additional sources of in¢ome come from Sohaffl United
Charities and an annual grant from Pembroke Collège towards thg ¢OSt ol our insurance premiums in respect of the
Chanc81.

Res8Tres policy
Thelgvel ol r6serves that will be tnaintsined will be SLrficient to gnsure the Church continues to fun¢tion thioughDUt
the ensuing y8ar. Unusual Income, such as bequests and occasional unrestrlctèd lump surns, tor use in funding
nDn-regular needs, are held in rèserve a8 design8ted funds. The Charity aimg to hold excess of one year's worth
of running Costs laround £70kl. Aithe year end the tolal funds held were £189k, ol which £5tkwere r¢stricied

Prlneipalrtsks and une8rtainiie$
The most rc¢oni Quinquennial inspection ol Si Andrew's Church building carried out in 2021 ieitarat8d the need lor
very considerable uro6nt restoration work to be undertaken as soon 8$ lund8 are available to carry rt Dut.
Temporary patch repairs ol the roof b8gan in 2017 and are beginning to fail. Additional patch repaiis are béing
carrled out as and where posslbls, bul the eondS1ion of the roofs continues to worseTr.. The towerwas cordoned off
lor saf8ty reasons in February 2018 aryd viill remain so until thè entirety of its surface can be repaired. A bid for
major funding from the National Lottery Heri;oge Fund INLHFI to carry out r8Storatlon work was submitted in
November 2019 but unfortunate￿ proved un8uceèsslul, appaiènuy due to the scale ol the funds bèing asked for. In
accordance with feedback from NLHFfollowing this unsuccossful bid, the PGC has decid&d to phase restoration
works and submitled a rewisffd'phase 1, bid to NLHF in November 2022, airned at r8rooling the transèpts and
carrying Olut Iran8ept masonry repairs and holding repairs on the resr tsf the roofsw. Happily, this bid was
successful. ènd th& PCC contlnues its ettorts to i(leTrtify a(klitional funding source for thgse and lurtherworks.
Volunte8rs
h8 lilg of St Andr8w's ch￿r¢h relies on the ongoing prayer, cornmltmenl and contribution ol m8mbers of its
congregation and very rnany othgr volunteers throughout the year. Their efforts are greatly appr8tsiated'. we could
not begln to manage without 117ern.
