Objectlve and artivitie5
The objects of the CIO are-
for the public benefit. to relieve the needs of those who have received an 'incompatible with life. diagnosi5
during pregnancy. and to those who choose to continue with the pregnancy after such a diagnosis by the
provision of emotional suprM)rt.
Thls year has seen us continue to support families who were already kr￿wn to the charity as well as supporting new
families who have been given an "incompatible with life" prognosis. Sadly, many of our new families have lost their
baby throughout pregnancy or the baby has not suThived very lon& meaning emotional support has been required
more so over financial support. We stay in touch with our families on a regular basis. mainly through a messenger
service, with regular check ins and being there as a listening ear. However there have been some families we have
been able to SUPPOrt financialfy by providing specffic ttems to aid the child or to make life a little easier. We purchased
a fridge freezerfor a family who could not afford a new one, meaning they had nowhere to store their babrfs medicines
or special food. We provided a half temi treat of a take away and gaming vouchers to a family who had been stuck
inside due to their son being isolated and extremely poorly with Mum and Dad su￿1VIng on no sleep, whi15t this wasn't
directly for the child it was a very much needed pick Me up for their other sons and took a btt of pressure off for a
evening (kind gestures like this very much kept us going when we were In a similar situationl- We purchased a rain
cover for a speciality disabled pu5hchair. to name a few.
Our main fundraising event this year Saw a group of supporters climbing Mount Snowden and our Jovie's birthday
fundraiser enabled us to purchase a special Tumble Form chairfor the children'5 ward at Norfolk and Nonmich hospital.
A main focus this year has been to spread awareness to medical professionals around the topit of an "incompatible
with life" prognosis along with end-of-life care and antenatal care. Our trustee Deborah has presented to
approximately 160 medical professionals. mainty Consuttants. sharing her own experiences and how she feels the
service succeeds and can improve. Deborah has worked c105ely wtth East Anglia Children's Hospice to give these
presentations.
Whilst we haven't been able to dedicate a5 much time to the charity as hoped, we are still very pleased that we are
still supporting families when they need to. One of the families we have 5UPPOrted commented:
.Jovie s Journey has
helped me ond my portner immensely with the diagnosis of our angel boby boy with Alobar Holoprosencepholy. I
honestlyconnot thonk you enough-becouse of bet7utifvlJovie we chose tokeep ourbobyloras long ospossible. Thank
youfor showlng me ond others whoys possible with ourprecious babies."
Our aim for this coming year is spread the word of the charity to give us a wider reach. we aim to do this by creating
leaflets, updating our website and making hospitals more aware that we exist. Deborah is keen to continue reaching
as many medical professionals as possible as the feedback from these has been extremely positlve. Here are just a
few of the positive comments received.
