Objectives and Activities
Ministry Net (originally named My Ministry) was formally recognised as a charity by the Charity Commission for England and Wales on 18 October 2021 (registered charity number 1196189). Its objectives were set out as:
The object of the CIO is to advance the Christian religion in the United Kingdom for the benefit of the public through the support, encouragement, education, and development of those involved in all forms of Christian ministry particularly, but not exclusively, lay ministers within the Church of England.
In planning and executing our activities for the year, the trustees have given consideration to the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit and, in particular, specific guidance on charities that exist for the advancement of religion. The trustees believe the charity has potential to provide considerable public benefit arising from its focus on the equipping and encouraging of lay (non-clergy) people in the Church of England and similar denominations of the Church. In practical terms, without the considerable contribution of time, money and talent from lay people, most churches would cease to be able to provide services to both their members and those in the wider community.
Achievements and Performance
Paraklesis
Paraklesis (the Association of Children's, Youth and Families Ministers) was launched as a division of Ministry Net two years ago, see https://www.paraklesis.org.uk/. The trustees believe that Paraklesis fills a need for a professional association of those working full or part time in this key part of Christian ministry, and by the end of its second year Paraklesis had attracted around one hundred and fifty members.
The Paraklesis segregated fund supports the work of our Paraklesis division and received income in 2022/23 of £4,824 from member subscriptions as well as donations, together with associated Gift Aid, of £556. However, this was, as expected in its second year, insufficient to cover annual costs of £6,928. The resulting shortfall was covered by existing reserves in the segregated Paraklesis fund.
ministrynet
The Ministrynet (Chichester) version of the ministrynet website (developed in co-operation with Hubb.Church), see https://www.chichester.ministrynet.org.uk/, was launched on 1[st] November 2023. The website is designed to provide internet-based support to the wide and diverse range of volunteer lay ministers and office holders in the Church of England. Diocese

of Chichester. By year-end (30[th] June 2024), the website had attracted over one hundred members.
The ministrynet segregated fund built up in 2022-23 was sufficient to pay the remaining development costs and launch costs of Ministrynet (Chichester), leaving a balance of £1,807 for future development, marketing and ongoing costs.
Financial Overview
Taking into account the above expenditure and income for the Paraklesis and ministrynet segregated funds and for the (unsegregated) General Fund, the charity had a net excess of expenditure over income for the year of £2,357 reducing net reserves from £4,341 at 30/6/23 to £1,984 at 30/6/24.
The trustees reserve policy is to maintain a reserve of at least six months fixed expenditure. All but a small part of our expenditure is variable so that the reserve policy was met comfortably throughout the year.
Structure, Governance and Management
Ministry Net is governed by a trust deed and is constituted as a Foundation CIO. New trustees are appointed by the existing trustees taking into account relevant experience, reputation and commitment to the objectives of the charity.

There are no corporate trustees, and no trustees hold title to property on behalf of the charity. The charity does not act as custodian trustees on behalf of others.

I would also like to thank Ali Campbell who, as development consultant for Paraklesis , has provided so much of the vision, energy, and enthusiasm that is essential to this project.
