Objectives and Activities
Ministry Net (originally named My Ministry) was formally recognised as a charity by the Charity Commission for England and Wales on 18 October 2021 (registered charity number 1196189). Its objectives were set out as:
The object of the CIO is to advance the Christian religion in the United Kingdom for the benefit of the public through the support, encouragement, education, and development of those involved in all forms of Christian ministry particularly, but not exclusively, lay ministers within the Church of England.
In planning and executing our activities for the year, the trustees have given consideration to the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit and, in particular, specific guidance on charities that exist for the advancement of religion. The trustees believe the charity has potential to provide significant public benefit arising from its focus on the equipping and encouraging of lay (non-clergy) people in the Church of England and similar denominations of the Church. In practical terms, without the considerable contribution of time, money and talent from lay people, most churches would cease to be able to provide services to both their members and those in the wider community.
Achievements and Performance
Paraklesis
Paraklesis (the Association of Children's, Youth and Families Ministers) was launched as a division of Ministry Net on 1[st] July 2022, see https://www.paraklesis.org.uk/. The trustees believe that Paraklesis will fill a clear need for a professional association of those working full or part time (employed or as lead volunteers) in this key part of Christian ministry, and by the end of our fiscal year (30[th] June 2023) Paraklesis had attracted in excess of a hundred subscribing members.
The Paraklesis segregated fund supports the work of our Paraklesis division and received income in 2022/23 of £5,564 from member subscriptions as well of donations, together with associated Gift Aid, of £3,858. However, this was, as expected in its first year, insufficient to cover annual costs and £3,492 was transferred from the General Fund both to support the 2022/23 shortfall and shortfalls expected in 2023/24.
ministrynet
Work on developing the ministrynet website was started during 2022/23 in collaboration with Hubb.Church. The website is designed to provide internet-based support to the wide and diverse range of volunteer lay ministers and office holders in the Church of England. A

pathfinder version of the website (for lay ministers in the Diocese of Chichester) was subsequently launched on 1[st] November 2023.
The ministrynet segregated fund received donations, plus associated Gift Aid, of £7,505 during 2022/23 which was sufficient to cover development costs of £4,893 with the balance being set aside for anticipated development and launch costs in 2023/24.
Financial Overview
Taking into account the above expenditure and income for the Paraklesis and ministrynet segregated funds and for the (unsegregated) General Fund, the charity had a net excess of income over expenditure for the year of £666 and net reserves of £4,341 at 30/6/23.
The trustees gratefully acknowledge the generous contributions we have received during the year from donors, without which the work of our Paraklesis and ministrynet divisions would not have been able to grow and develop.
The trustees reserve policy is to maintain a reserve of at least six months fixed expenditure. All but a small part of our expenditure is variable so that the reserve policy was met comfortably throughout the year.
Structure, Governance and Management
Ministry Net is governed by a trust deed and is constituted as a Foundation CIO. New trustees are appointed by the existing trustees taking into account relevant experience, reputation and commitment to the objectives of the charity.

There are no corporate trustees, and no trustees hold title to property on behalf of the charity. The charity does not act as custodian trustees on behalf of others.
