Para 1.20 | During the period covered by this Report the Trustees carried out their charitable aim and objectives by supporting the following performances by Rachel Podger and Brecon Baroque: Gower Festival, July 2023 Sonatas by Frescobaldi and other Italian masters of the seventeenth century. Machynlleth Festival, August 2023 Handel & Purcell Trio Sonatas. Wimbledon International Festival, November 2023 A double programme exploring the world of Bach’s instrumental concertos. King’s Place (part of Rachel Podger’s residency), December 2023 The Goldberg Variations, in a new arrangement by Chad Kelly Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, March 2024 Chamber music with Toby Carr and Marcin Swiatkiewicz King’s Place (Part of Rachel Podger’s residency), March 2024 ‘From Darkness into Light’, the opening concert of King’s Place’s Bach Weekend was a spiritual journey of spiritual transformation for Eastertide. Beginning with JS Bach’s_Nach dir, Herr verlanget_and culminating in the joyous Easter Cantata, the programme explored human frailty and lemtn alongside longing and hope. Brecon Baroque were joined by singers Zoe Brookshaw, Chiara Hendrick, Jon Stainsby and Gwilym Bowen. The Foundation also supported_The Muses Restor’d_ recording, made in November 2023 and released in May 2024. Compared to the repertories of Italy and Germany, the glories of English instrumental music of the 17th and early 18th Centuries are largely unknown. Rachel Podger together with five musicians of Brecon Baroque shed light on this underappreciated era in_The Muses Restor'd_, a journey of violin-led chamber music from Jacobean to Early Georgian England, ranging from the gentle intimacy of consort idioms to the full-blown instrumental virtuosity of the evolving baroque period. This beautifully refined and intimately chiselled chamber music celebrates a rich tradition where the violin joins a plethora of keyboards, lutes, viol and continuo cello reinstatingthese sonatas, |

fantasies, suites, grounds and popular tunes to the mainstream of English cultural life of the time. The recording features works by Handel, Lawes, Blow, Locke, Purcell, Schop, Jenkins, Baltzar and Jones.
