FRIENDSHIP 6 L E I S U R E Achievements and Perfornmnce Our customers. All our customers, when asked. hav8 saKI that they really like the new facility following the major renovations we undertook in 2020. They also very much appreciate the friendly Servi that our Volunteers give and welcome the chat and banter that many of the Volunteers give them. One of the main objectives that everyone believes we are meeting is that we offer a pleasant place for them to meet up with friends and acquaintances. Many of our customers have very little social interaction as they often live alone and many of them have said how good it is to re- establish contact with the rest of the world ouiside their own four walls. Our Volunteers At first sight it is often assumed that all the benefrts are given to our S1omers. This is far from the actual truth. A high percentage of our Volunteers also suffer from lack of social interaction and might have drfficulty in starting a conversation with a stranger. However, when they have a job to do such as askiTh3 a Customer for their choice of tea or coffee and would he like 8 biscurt wrth rt, then a whole nèw world of chatting opportunities opens up We have had saveral exarnples where these otherwise lonely Volunteers have suggested longer opening times such as tt Market d8y extension over lunch time on a INednesday and Public Holidays can now be a good day to find us open. The centre is run by volunteers servirp teaslcoffees wrih biscuits at minwnal prIs. There are six groups formed on rotation from bcal churches and organisations. Each group has 8 coordinator and there are 10112 volunteers in each group.
