**period as a result of the Manager, Tom**
**Elliott having a busy year taking on a new**
**teaching role away from the Charity. The**
**only two concerts that we put on in this**
**period was a very successful baroque**
**orchestra event, featuring two world-**
**famous sopranos and a very well known**
**Kent-based music director, Steven**
**Devine. This was on 17 June 2023 in Rye**
**Creative Centre and featured an**
**orchestra of 13 players.**
**In November, 2023, a small recital with**
**Stephen Barlow and Bibi Heal finished**
**our activities for the period.**
**Further concerts are planned for this**
**season and a return to higher levels of**
**activity is planned, if sufficient funds can**
**be raised.**
**In addition to the concerts, the other**
**main branch of the charity’s activites, the**
**string school for young people every**
**Monday night in Benenden continued and**
**had a good year. The group finished the**
**period with 13 members, from age 9-13**
**and undertook two concerts and an**
**appearance at the Benenden Village Fete**
**in June.**
**It is the aim of the Trustees to encourage**
**more children from state schools, who**
**have limited access to musical**
**experiences to join. At the time of writing,**
**the group has 23% non-independent**
