The Child Psychotherapy Council (CPC) Executive Committee present their report and accounts for the period 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2025.

Objectives and Activities

Purposes of the Charity

The Child Psychotherapy Council (CPC), represents the profession of child psychotherapy across all modalities in the UK and beyond. It is dedicated to the advancement of child psychotherapy as a distinct profession within the field of child and adolescent mental health.

The organisation was founded in 2021 by a group of child psychotherapists, united by the idea of creating a real change in the field of child and adolescent psychotherapy.

As a registered charity (Charity Number 1196150), the Child Psychotherapy Council engages with practitioners, training organisations, regulators, policy makers, statutory and non-statutory mental health organisations for children, young people, families and the general public. The CPC’s goal is to promote and maintain the highest standards of psychotherapeutic services for children and young people. Ensuring that only the highest quality, most developmentally appropriate mental health services are offered to children and their families – both privately and in the public sector.

Main activities

CPC carries out several activities in the UK that contribute to maintaining the highest standards of practice in child psychotherapy:

Protecting the title of child psychotherapy to ensure it is only used by appropriately qualified practitioners
Creating a community of child psychotherapy professionals with a shared vision and influential voice
Promoting rigorous standards for training and continuing professional development
Offering high-quality continues professional development training events (CPD) for child psychotherapy professionals
Establishing a body of best practice principles, ethics and guidelines to be adhered to by practitioners and researchers
Lobbying for funding and improved mental health services for children and young people
Influencing public policy and legislation related to child mental health
Pioneering research in child psychotherapy practice and outcomes
Informing the general public on the practice, benefits and outcomes of child psychotherapy and how to select the right mental health service

The charity operates throughout England and Wales.

Governance

The charity was registered as a CIO on 14 October 2021 with its Constitutional document registered. This sets out the charitable objectives of the organisation.

No funds are held as custodian trustees on behalf of others.

Structure and Management

Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees consists of the Chair, Vice Chair and Treasurer. The Trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit. Trustee selection procedure is set out in the CPC constitution. The Executive Committee of the CPC reports to the Board.

Board Trustees consist of experienced child and adolescent psychotherapists and an Honorary Member of CPC.

Chair: Bozena Block, MSc Clinical Psych, UKCP, is CEO, Clinical Director and Founder of Terapia Training in Integrative Child Psychotherapy and Counselling. Honorary Member of CPC.
Vice Chair: Lucy Fuller, Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist (MA) and Clinical Supervisor. Lucy worked as a secondary school teacher before retraining as a psychotherapist.
Treasurer: Nadja Julia Rolli Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist (MA), psychomotor therapist, play therapist and certified sandplay practitioner

CPC Executive Committee members

The CPC Executive Committee consists of Chairs and Vice Chairs of CPC Committees.

The Chair of Governance Committee: Kim Fowler Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist (MA) .
The Chair of Membership Committee: Diana Samuels Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist (MA) and Clinical Supervisor, BSocSci, CQSW, PGDip (Play Therapy), MA, PGDip (Clinical Supervision).

The Chair of Standards Committee: Lucy Fuller, Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist (MA) and Clinical Supervisor. Lucy worked as a secondary school teacher before retraining as a psychotherapist.
Secretary and Chair of the Complaints Committee: Åsa Marks, MA Integrative Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist, PG Dip Adult Humanistic Counsellor and Psychotherapist and Dip Clinical Supervisor, registered with CPC, UKCP and BACP
The Chair of Research Committee: Nadja Julia Rolli UKCP BACP is an integrative child and adolescent psychotherapist, psychomotor therapist, play therapist and certified sandplay practitioner
The Chair of Ethics and EDI Committees : Anna Lippa is a primary school Headteacher and SENCO, having worked in a range of primary school settings, across three local authorities.

Report from the Chair of the Charity

The past year has been an important period of development and consolidation for our charity. Throughout 2025, we strengthened our strategic direction by confirming our key objectives and establishing clear priorities for the future.

One of our most significant decisions was our commitment to pursuing registration with the Professional Standards Authority. This represents a major milestone in our journey and reflects our determination to promote excellence, accountability, and public confidence in the profession of child psychotherapy.

Alongside this, we developed a clear funding strategy to support the long-term sustainability of the charity and enable us to deliver our objectives more effectively. Having a defined strategic and financial direction has allowed us to focus our resources where they will have the greatest impact.

As part of this strategy, we launched a series of professional webinars for practitioners in the field. These events have provided valuable opportunities for learning, professional development, and engagement with our growing community. They have also helped us strengthen our relationships with practitioners and reinforce our commitment to maintaining and promoting high professional standards.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to every member of the Board of Trustees and the Executive Committee for their dedication, expertise and hard work throughout the year. Their commitment and willingness to contribute their time and experience have been instrumental in the progress we have made.

I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all the child psychotherapists who joined our Council during the year. Your trust in our organisation, our vision and our shared objectives is deeply appreciated. Together, we are working to protect and promote the highest professional and ethical standards in child psychotherapy, while supporting the continued development and recognition of our profession.

As we look ahead to the coming year, I am excited by the opportunities before us. We will continue to work towards Professional Standards Authority registration, expand our educational and professional development activities, strengthen our membership and build an organisation that represents and supports child psychotherapists with integrity, excellence and purpose. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to our progress this year. I look forward to working with you as we continue to grow our membership and advance our shared mission.

Report from the Tresurer

Financial Review

CPC started 2025 by having a small financial gain of £1240.48; but with an outstanding debit of £2106.00 . This debt dated back to 2022, when CPC was freshly launched and needed to create a website. In November 2025, CPC was able to settle this debt.

In 2025, CPC organised 4 CPD events: in May, September, October and November. All these events generated a small income. The CPD events continue to have the potential for being a source of income in 2026.

Furthermore, CPC maintained a small but regular cash flow from membership fees. Memberships still have the potential to be a steady source of income for 2026.

On December 31[st] , CPC closed the books with a small financial gain of £1516.64.It is a strong financial achievement as it is the first time since the launch of CPC that there are no outstanding debts.

For 2026, CPC needs to continue to address ways of raising funds, expanding memberships and strengthening the CPD training program.
