This work h89 identified that finanual sustainability is a financial risk for the charfty. A key element in
the management of financial risk is a regular revlew of available liquid fvnds to settle debts as Ihey fall
due, regular liaison WI￿ the bank. and active managemgnt of trade debtors and creditots balances to
ensure sufficient Wotking capital.
Attention has also been focussed on non-financial risks arisino from fire, health and Safety of arbsts,
safoguarding and auTJi¥wiLE. Thetse wlsks are managed Dy regular awareness iraining trjr staff working
in these operatlonal areas, with production rlsk assessments c¥eated by a freelance techni(*l
manager and approved by the Execuuve Produc8r.

The charfty also re¢eived two ad￿￿onSI grants from Arts Coundl of Wales. th8 first W88 to enable
continuation and development of its young company through the two projeGts Jones Bach and Quiet
Beats. The second vrds to support business development for the charity to re-wrfte the business plan
and future strategies.
Y Dewis and the Young Company gTrnts were both eligible for a grant ofan addition8115% of c%)sts to
help with the cost of living crisis.
There was the fin81 instslmenl of iwo grants from W8188 ArL% Intemational (via ACWI for wllaboratwe
residencies in Italy and Sweden.

ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORPMNCE

Throughout the year the chaAty continued to work on Y Dgwis, an Interactive multllingual dance film
that inters8cts with live porformance and follows the stories of five characters through spoken word,
skjn language and dance. Rehearsals and filming commenced in April 2023, edttlng of th8 film
continued through th& year and th8 tour bègan early in the following year in April 2024. The ¢x)mpany
offered opon rehearsals and artist talks Wth l¢xal ￿mmunitieS in north Wabs during the ¢reation In
June 2023.
The Charity received a large grant from ACW towards year4ong aclivlty for the Young Company
projects Quiet Beats and Jones Bach. This is a significznt development for the ljvo projects, belng
able lo develop and expand the offer through regular and ￿nSIstent workshop opportunittes. Tha
grant enab￿ the project to continue past the end of this financial year thn)ugh to September 24.

In January 2024, Gwyn Emberton and freelance Produc*r Kama Roberts attended the flrst in•8tson
meeting for the new edibon of iCoD8Co Ilnlernation81 Conternporary Dan￿ Collectivel project in
Porto. The charity received funds from ACW via Wales Arts Intemational Intemational Opportunhies
Fund to attend the meeting along with additional monthly digitsl meeungs and worknng sessions.

JtD tours dance theatre productK)ns which are presented to the public in an arfstlc fom. The
mpany creates employment for choreographers, producers, dancers, destgners, technlcians and
other dan￿ and c¥88tive profgssionals. The company offers trainlng and workshop opportunities for
school and college groups. dance prof&ssionals and audients members. There Is a focus on
developing and supporting dance and creative talent from Wales to make work and present work In
national and international ry)ntext. The charity provides and develops youth dance inrftiatives with 8
commllment to providing opportunities for young people who usualty face barriers to experiencing
darw opportunities with pmfes$ional dance r￿mPani8s 8n¢J artists.
Internal and Extemal Facto
The company b reliant on project funding princlpalty from Arts Council of Wales to produce wort¢,
81ongside fees and box office income generated from touring. Additional funding is also available frt)m
trusts and foundauons. crowdfunding and individual donations. Following Ihe decislon of the UK to
leave the EU, the company has sought 8ltamabve fvndin9 strategies to ¢x)ntinue to participate in
Internati￿al projects.
Operational management of the comp8ny is delnrered by the freelance ATtistlc Dlrector and Executive
Producer, appointed and overseen by the Trustees. Both roles are appointed on an annual basis to
fulfil projects. Al artists, teachers. creattves and 8dministration engaged by Jones the Dan￿ are dono
so on a frgelance basis and are ¢x)ntra¢tsd project by project. Tnjstees, travel, accommodation and
subsisten￿ can be clammed as long as it is assouated activity to th& charity.
