## **TRUSTEES REPORT**

The Trustees present their report and accounts for the year ended 31 October 2025.

## **Governance and Management**

**The Scheme** - The Cunningham Family Foundation was established by a Constitution dated 18 August 2021 as amended 18 September 2021. The charity was registered as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation with the Charity Commission, registered number 1196113 on 11 October 2021.

**Trustees** - The Charity is administered by Trustees and their powers are determined by the Constitution dated 18 September 2021. The trustees who are also the members and served the charity during the period are detailed on Page 1.

New trustees are appointed by the current trustees from people over 16 who have shown a keen interest in the work of the charity and have abilities required on the governing body.

The board shall consist of at least three trustees and at least one of the trustees must be 18 years of age or over. When they are inducted the trustees are presented with a current copy of the constitution and latest annual report and financial statements.

**Risk Management** – The Trustees have assessed the major risks to which the Charity is exposed, in particular those related to the management of its investments and finances, and are satisfied that the systems in place sufficiently manage its exposure to those risks.

**Trustees' responsibilities -** The Trustees are required to prepare financial statements for each financial period which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the Charity and of its income and expenditure for that period. In preparing those financial statements, the Trustees are required to:

- select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently;

- make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent;

- state whether applicable accounting standards and statements of recommended practice have been followed, subject to any departures disclosed and explained in the financial statements;

- prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charity will continue in operation.

The trustees are responsible for keeping accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy the financial position of the charity and which enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011.

## **Objectives and Activities**

**Objects** – The general object of the Trustees is to advance such charitable purposes (according to the law of England and Wales) as the trustees see fit from time to time and in particular, but not limited to, the relief of those in need, by reason of youth, age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage in the United Kingdom and around the world.

The Trustees consider that the objectives and activities of the Charity are in accordance with the Charity Commission's general guidance on public benefit.

**Area of Benefit** – This is defined within the Constitution as being throughout England and Wales and around the world. Grants may be made to individuals and organisations which are either registered Charities or Voluntary Bodies but would meet the requirements of a public benefit.

## **for the year ended 31 October 2025**

## **Summary of Main Achievements and Events**

The charity granted aid to a number of charities and similar organisations during the period. These grants are detailed within the financial statements. A brief explanation of why these organisations have been supported are detailed below.

**Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy** is a charity registered in England and Wales, number 280960 which aims to provide and extend music therapy services nationwide. They train professional music therapists and transmit music therapy knowledge and skills through broader educational programmes.

Funding is needed for them to research and develop music therapy as a professional practice and an academic discipline as well as providing the services day to day. The research allows them to properly examine their practice. It highlights opportunities that might otherwise go unnoticed and helps them to train their students more effectively. Ultimately, it gives them to develop the knowledge they need to evolve their approach in a way that makes it more impactful for the people they support.

The Nordoff Robbins approach to music therapy does not take a fixed form or pursue a single set of outcomes. Instead, it’s a way of understanding the power and possibilities of music making, then applying that understanding to meet the specific needs of every client, family and community.

Each and every session is based on musical participation. This is always collaborative, sometimes one to one, sometimes in groups. These collaborations are led by our clients with support from our therapists.

There are many conditions or circumstances that might lead to a person of any age having difficulty finding avenues for communication. These include learning disabilities, mental health, autism, brain injury, dementia, life-limiting illness and trauma or grief.

The **Little Edi Foundation** is an Essex based non-profit helping children in the UK. The Cunningham Family Foundation provides funding for specific projects of that foundation and also pays the suppliers directly. The charity is registered in England and Wales, charity number 1169242.

The foundation considers the needs of the most vulnerable children and families. The trustees believe all children should have equal access to education and learning development, enabling them to reach their full potential and bridge the gap between children living in poverty and their wealthier friends. In order to achieve this, they listen to the needs of our local vulnerable families and offer help where necessary to get their children into school with whatever they need.

The Little Eid Foundation is based in Chelmsford, Essex and they serve mostly the local community surrounding Melbourne. The charity has signed a lease to a local building so that they are able to be present in the heart of the project area and more available for their beneficiary families. They are planning to be able to run more projects from this hub for both the children and parents including cookery classes, debt counselling and kids clubs.

We have been able to assist Little Edi Foundation with their recurrent costs including the lease of a minibus essential for enabling the beneficiaries to receive support. Going forward the trustees wish to fund rent for new premises, school uniforms and shoes for those in need and a significant Christmas event for the beneficiaries. There is no formal commitment to these plans.

## **TRUSTEES REPORT (continued)**

## **Financial Review**

Unrestricted Funds currently amount to £9,010, which is available for distribution to worthwhile causes when suitable applications are received.

## **Grant making**

A Grant Making policy has been adopted by the charity which helps guide the Trustees to such applications which meet the charitable requirements and offers the Trustees and Applicants guidance for both grant giving and applications thereof.

## **Reserves**

The Trustees aim, in pursuing their objects, is to distribute by way of grants the whole of the Charity’s incoming resources available for the purpose within a reasonable time span after such resources are received. The Trustees see no need to have a reserves policy as such. Any balances available at a point in time are due to the cut off and awaiting confirmation of levels available.

## **Public Benefit**

The trustees have considered the Charity Commission's guidance on public benefit and believe that the objects of the trust and the activities undertaken support this public benefit.

The trustees consider that the full details of the public benefit have been displayed within the review of activities and the future development planned.

## **Independent Examiner**

A resolution to re-appoint Mr K J Maggs as independent examiner for the ensuing year will be proposed at the annual general meeting.
