SUMMARY
The latest 12 months have seen the retIr￿t of Lx)th Re4 Jarre5 M&rer. the A59)?ate Minister and
Rev Ian Jackson, the R8lor, ￿ the parish ends the year in an intenBJnum. In D￿nter 2023 the
Church Wardens, the Bishop of Sherbome and varI￿S cthers met and intervivmed knndy Cameron and
Offer￿ her the role of A￿tiate Minister from April 2024, which she has accept￿.
The other maTr)r event of 2023 was the ccrfnmwmwt of the VK*k to r￿)￿￿ the r(M)f at st Nicholas.

ACHIEVEMEKfs AND PERFORMANCE
Trustees Report
2023 has seen the continued pr£ess of mergirMJ the 3 former parishe5 of St George's, St Nicholas and
St James in to one Fkirith. The year aly) saw the retirement of Rev ]ame5 Mercer at Easter and Rev Ian
Jackson, as r￿Or at the end of Ckknber. Whilst this means we are now in a pericrfj of intsrregnum it
has also meant a pulliry trwjether across the tEnefte to ensure service5 are Cover￿1.
We have been fortunate that in dIC￿e advised us that had a ￿￿ntial ondidate
for the House for Duty and after an Interv￿ V￿ were able to offw the role to Rev Lindy
Cameron with a start date in April 2024. We to)k f(¥ward to vKKkir¥J with Lirnty as she starts a new
phase in her career the Chuth in purt￿.
Jane Hudson was licensed in 2023 as a Lay Worshlp leader.
In March we ap[K)In￿l Tor Benfield as our new Benef￿ Administrator. Tor has settl&l In wdl and has
provlded great SUPlKrt to the partsh.
As mention8J in last yearfs the churth at st NKJK)las, W(Ath matr3￿5 has
progressed throughout tre year. C*nmJs donatic￿$ have trEen received frryn the Ictsl community,
and other activities such as a 'litetary lu￿h, h05t8J by Tr Oldie. magaJne and a tointing by the
nationally acdaimed artE* Nichola5 Hdd HUtthInx￿ has ten commisS￿ned has teen Trffled,
and prints ￿)Id to rai* funds. A varEty of tnjst furmds Ibave aL9) 0)ntributed grant funding. An
applicatson to the Heritage Lottery was submittej an awRrd of almost £250,[￿ was grantLIl in March
2023. A grdnt of £20,0(￿) vffis also ayfdrded ty the National (￿Ur1)leS Tru* £15,(KKI Wds from
the Erskin Mutton Trust and £11,000 from the Dorset Historic (JurdEs TnJsL All of this tcoether
meant we able to aFwint Tudor Rose Ma9)nry & conservati￿ as our contractor, and they stsrted
in their work in September. By the end of 2023 %BffokliTrJ was in fv and all the stcffie rcK)f had
￿￿en removed. Unfortunately this has identifi8J iSSL￿$ With the rafters that ne8J to be eRluated and a
appropriate plan agreed, alth￿jgh we are still optimistic a C￿ date in Swng l early summer
2024. Thank you to everyonei eS￿lalIY HLKJh and (knJ, all the work wt in to prc¥Jressing the
project to date.

2023 has also seen a signfficant upJrade to the heating 5wem at En￿11, a prcwty owned by the P
and rented out to a bxal family. The up3r&Je aThJ other wot* was r8]uired to meet new EPC Trtings on
rented protErties. This c(6t was a S￿nifi￿nt contr[bU￿ to defKit for the year, tmjt ha5 resultaj in
a significant imwovanent to the en￿rc￿ment in the try￿ty.
During 2023 we were prtvi183ed to marry 15 c￿￿e5 at the churthes and chatEI auoss the parish.
Whilst some may have been delay￿ by COVID it was great to te involvèj with s) many couples
staEtsng a new phase of their lives. The churches al￿ coThluct8J 13 funetal seFViCES in 2023.
The major national event in 2023 was the (T￿nth of ChaF*s III 81x1 parbc7pated in the
lebration5 With a cream tea at St George's which was attend&J a significant num1￿ of Fe)ple and
raised £408 for Mosaic- a Ic(al chanty ndping tThved thildren arKI their families.
The Christmas sea%)n saw significant numtErs attefKI the (hristiTh3Se W¥￿e5 in the parish and the
Advent and Qirol seNices, which was a great encouragement to everyorE invofved.
The parish continues to give SUPLY)rt to the kx71 prtrschcK)l and SLtKKIl, throLKJh various means
including a monthty prtrsthwl activty in the church, leading assemblies and acts of w￿rShIp1
foundation governor5 and the use of St ￿ge.5 Church for key scIKx)E artivitses and ￿lebratiOnS
during the year.

For the 12 months to the end of Dwitrer 2023 income was £306,131.

Mutton, £11,000 from DH￿, £72,199 from Heritage Lotw and £27,035 from the LÉsted Pla￿ of
Worship scheme. The Hentage Lottery and the List Ha￿ of Wor<hip ytheme Fkly t*sgJ on invoice5
received for work done, nEaning cash flow will neal b) te manawl ck)sely.

In the year there were 15 13 funerals whith ￿ted fee inc(rne of £15,204.
Expenditure for the 12 months to the of D￿eM￿tr 2023 was £295,349. The major item in this was
the £166,319 on the Worth R￿f repairs. In the General Fund the Parish Share £38,864, Repairs and
lmvovem￿ts at Enzeii £12,165, Buikling re￿11￿ £4.755, Util￿￿ £9,079 and Insuran￿ £7,636.
The PCC had a surFdus for the 12 months to the of DecemtEr 2023 of £10,783, but the
Unrestnct8d Funds h￿1 a deficit of £17,707, mainly due to the £lIc￿ swt on Enzeli. whiL5t the
Restrrctad FutKls had a surplus of £28,490 due to funds rais8J for the rwf pwecL
The replacanent of the Worth RcM)f startgj in sept￿ntr￿r arKI has rThJresseJ well, lyjt after the rcof

If we had accrued the extra cost in our 2023 accounts our ￿ In￿rne l Ex[￿ditUre would have
redu￿￿ from £10,783 to £1,833. All of this cost wjuld have an impact on the Unre*ncted Funds.
The treatment of this has teen fully d¢scussd with the irKlepEndent examiner and fv are in
agreement with the appr￿ tsk￿.
The finanaal wsition of the PCC is satisfdtt(ry £I(10,150 of unrestiictej fvnds in the bank and
restricted fijnds of £92,681. The￿ are also invesbwits totBling £81,718. Wth general expenE8 for the
