ARMED FORCES RESERVISTS, FORMER MEMBERS OF THE MERCHANT NAVY WHO HAVE SERVED ALONGSIDE THEIR ARMED FORCES COMRADES DURING A CONFLICT (ALSO REFERRED TO AS VETERANS) OR ROYAL FLEET AUXILIARY ALONG WITH THEIR FAMILIES AND DEPENDENTS WHO RESIDE IN

- Emergency food provision and provision of help where needed to cover the cost of utilities for veterans in need 

- Provision of household white goods items 

- Resettling of homeless veterans 

- Assistance in the homes of vulnerable veterans 

- Servicing of veteran mobility equipment e.g. mobility scooters 

- Emergency help after mental health episodes e.g. help at drop in centre such as counselling and food 

**Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)** 

- Ongoing provision of counselling provided by trained counsellors and in turn appropriate supervision for counsellors 

- Drop in centre provided for veterans to have a place to be with other veterans 3 days per week. 

- Our outreach working increased with home visits 

- Summer Walk & Talk group established to help with the isolation and exercise 

## **Additional details of objectives and activities (Optional information)** 

The centre benefits hugely from the participation of volunteers, particularly in the spirit of ‘Veterans helping Veterans’. 

In addition both the trust and the Drop in centre benefit from the expert advice of civilian volunteers in the spirit of ‘with the help of a few good civilians’. In particular veterans benefit from the contribution of qualified counsellors who donate time weekly.

Other expert volunteers make contributions with book keeping, skills acquisition, health and well being and advice from the DWP. Other community volunteers have offered help with grant writing.

The charity’s principal source of funds continues to be one off donations from individuals with a few setting up a monthly donation including through their own fundraising efforts and through memorial donations from the veterans who we miss dearly. 

The charity also raises funds through our own fundraising such as our information stand at fetes Fayres etc 

- how expenditure has supported the key objectives of the charity; 

- investment policy and objectives including any ethical investment policy adopted.
