**Brief statement of the charity’s policy on reserves**

During the period, the charity secured total donations of £244,131 which were all unrestricted for various project appeals for those in financial hardship in India. This was an increase from previous year because of the extra appeals carried out and generous support of donors. The expenditure for the year was £246,546 which were mainly grants of £245,523 for the delivery of humanitarian projects. This resulted in a deficit of £2,415 which was met with prior year surpluses. At the end of the period, the charity held £216 in reserves which were held for future charitable expenditure. The trustees have a policy not to hold reserves but to expend surpluses in future periods for charitable expenditure.
