Annual Return to the Charity Commission 2025

The Chairman expressed a wish at the recent AGM to retire from his position after several years’ service to the EFHA. He feels that he has not been able to do as much for the Charity as he would wish due to the illness and then death of his wife. His contributions over the years have been important in the development of the original organisation and in the development of the charity. He asked at the AGM for a replacement to be sought before the end of the year.

The use of social media has continued to develop interest in Entwistle family history and requests for information and assistance are made from it to the EFHA. Our Facebook presence has been particularly effective.

The Secretary, Membership Secretary and Treasurer all expressed a wish to resign during the year. They were able to be replaced at the 2025 AGM in November by Steve Entwisle from Surrey who will take over both Secretarial roles and Mark Thompson of West Sussex who will become Treasurer.

The Treasurer submitted a Company Tax return to HMRC early in 2025. The Charity is on a 3-yearly cycle of returns.

Membership, as with many genealogical societies has reduced this year, to 69 paid-up members.

The website continues to function well as a repository of interesting and educational articles.

The Researcher, as always, offers free assistance to members and non-members alike. She finds that she is more often called upon to help non-members begin how to find out more about their family history and how to solve genealogical problems.
