## **Annual Return 2023** 

- Progress this year has been hampered by the illness of several of the trustees. However, contact has been maintained via Zoom, email and other means so that the EFHA has been able to continue its work more or less as usual. 

- The quarterly newsletter continues to assist members with new developments in genealogy and exemplar articles which are later placed on the open website. 

- Social media usage via Facebook and X continues to excite interest and freely share advice and knowledge. 

- Due to illness, only one visit took place this year with a positive outcome in the area of unpublished burial records. 

- The Research Co-ordinator reported a quieter year than usual. She suggested that more of the donated family histories should be available online, with safeguards, as this would be useful for individual research as well as a helpful educational tool. 

- The website was hit by malware in September 2022 but this was quickly resolved by our webhost without any loss of data. Personal details are not available via the website so were not compromised. 

- The website continues to be well used. The offering of educative articles has continued particularly in the explanation of how to explore your genealogy via new DNA testing methods and how to interpret results. Birth, marriage and death files on the site have increased in both reach and depth. Enhancements have been made to cemetery records and probated wills.
