Paper-based Technology (APT), and support for
workshops in Wales and Kenya to produce APT

was built. The Talybont, Njoro and Maua
workshops have been supported financially in
terms of rent, volunteer and paid staff, and
materials to enable them to provide APT
assistive devices for children with Disabilities.
Both these Kenyan workshops have had further
training and evaluation visits and received
ongoing remote support.
The Kinamba workshop, and its trainer/APTer
have not received any further funding since the
initial trainings he delivered in February and
March 22 when his techniques were found to
have become substandard and his behaviour
unacceptable. His organisations workshop was
visited in Dec 22 and found to be barely
functional with the neighbouring L’Arche
workshop also visited and future collaboration
discussed, but no financial support provided as
this workshop already well established,| |Statement confirming

Talybont workshop to enable adults with
intellectual disabilities to learn how to make APT
items and continue attending on a regular basis
to make devices for their family and friends,
providing a supportive, social environment to
harness their creativity, Therapists preparing for
training others in Kenya were able to use
Talybont and a Welshpool workshop to prepare
for the training of Kenyan workshop staff and
Therapists in the first quarter in 2022. This
allowed two new workshops to be established in
Njoro and Maua which have continued to
produce devices which have been positively
evaluated as benefitting children with disabilities
and their families. The Njoro workshop has been
the more successful not only in its monthly
assessment and production which also involves
parents working as “Paperers” on the devices,
but in helping to train APTers from other
organisations although this training was done
