APT for Social Development is a charity working in Kenya , Ghana , Malawi and Wales supporting and training rehabilitation workers and volunteers in the techniques of appropriate paper-based technology (APT) to make bespoke postural support devices for people with disabilities in Kenya and household items in Wales.

Objects: 1. The Relief Of Those In Need, By Reason Of Youth, Age, Ill-Health, Disability And Financial Disadvantage By: A. Supporting And Training Rehabilitation Workers And Volunteers In The Techniques Of Appropriate Paper-Based Technology (Apt) To Enable Them To Make Assistive Devices And Equipment For Those In Need In Kenya, Malawi And Ghana. B. Providing Training On Creating Furniture And Other Household Items Using Apt To People Who Do Not Have The Resources, Skills, Or Capability To Provide For Themselves. 2. To Promote For The Benefit Of The Public The Conservation Protection And Improvement Of The Physical And Natural Environment By: A. The Promotion Of Waste Reduction, Re-Use Reclamation, Recycling, Use Of Recycled Products And The Use Of Surplus B. The Provision Of Training In How To Create Furniture And Other Household Items Made From Recycled Materials For The Public Benefit, In Wales, Kenya, Ghana And Malawi. 3. To Promote Social Inclusion For The Public Benefit By Preventing People From Becoming Socially Excluded, Relieving The Needs Of Those People Who Are Socially Excluded And Assisting Them To Integrate Into By Providing Training In Appropriate Paper-Based Technology (Apt), Workshops And General Support For The Purpose Of This Clause 'Socially Excluded' Means Being Excluded From Society, Or Parts Of Society, As A Result Of One Or More Of The Following Factors; Unemployment; Financial Hardship; Youth Or Old Age; Ill-Health (Physical Or Mental); Disability; Substance Abuse Or Dependency Including Alcohol And Drugs; Discrimination On The Grounds Of HIV Status, Sex, Race, Disability, Ethnic Origin, Religion, Belief, Creed, Poor Educational Or Skills Attainment; Relationship And Family Breakdown; Poor Housing (That Is Housing That Does Not Meet Basic Habitable Standards; Crime (Either As A Victim Of Crime Or As An Offender Rehabilitating Into Society).
